If
Prince & George Michael got roofied and woke up spooning Phil

multi-instrumentalist, 8th Grader gives new life into the slow jam with
soulful harmonies and 80's inspired ear candy.

STUPORBOWL XLVI
and
4th
Annual Stupor Bowl Heavy Metal Chili Cookoff
Entries will be limited to 20
chilis, the first 20 to RSVP to chili@bottomofthehill.com.
All
chili must be brought to the Bottom of the Hill between 1 PM and 2 PM
on gameday. At that time, the judges will start judging.
when you arrive, and ask a chili helper where to put your crockpot.
All
chili must be in a crockpot. You should make at least 4 qts. If you do
not have a crockpot that fits 4 qts. and don't know where to borrow
one, let us know. We will try to locate one for you!
We will
supply
bowls and utensils and napkins, but you may bring in any special
condiments for your chili if they are essential to your chili's flavor.
All
chilis shall be given a heavy metal name. For example, a past year's
chili cookoff
heavy metal name winner: "Nordic Flesh Feast." (It was a white chili.)
There
are three prizes: best chili, best chili (popular vote), and best heavy
metal name (popular vote). The prizes will be awarded at halftime.
Don't worry, The Whoever will be playing on
the patio.
The
judges:
Lauren Caproni lives
and eats in California. Raised by an Italian New Yorker and a
Portuguese Hawaiian she learned the value of cured pork products at a
young age. Holding a rich passion for people and communion she was
quickly ushered into the restaurant industry at 15 and since has held
every position possible in food and beverage. From breaking down 6
cases of rabbits every day and picking chervil for 6 hours to Executive
Chef of a W Hotel Lauren celebrates the plate...and you.
Jennifer Havel
started her culinary career right here at The Bottom of the Hill, with
the All-U-Can-Eat Sunday BBQ, making meals for bands, and slinging
burgers during punk rock shows. In fact, she believes there's nothing
cooler than dropping a basket of fries while watching The Jesus Lizard
through the 'window'. She's worked in the restaurant industry as a line
cook, Sous Chef, and bartender and now lives the glamorous life of
catering, and loves it.
Amy
Machnak
is a pastry chef turned food writer currently working for
Sunset magazine. After graduating from culinary school in Detroit, Amy
moved to SF and attended San Francisco State University where she
double majored in bullsh*t and chicken wings. She won a James Beard
award in 2009 for something completely random, like making salt or some
such nonsense. You can often find her in a Mission dive bar trying to
count the number of tequila shots she's had.
If you are not bringing chili,
please feel free to bring another food to
share

have shaped the yearly event from what began as a single, sweaty night
in a small club to the sprawling San Francisco institution it has
become. Photographers include: Eduardo Acorda, Marlu Aufmuth, Jeanne
Ellenby, Peter Ellenby, Charlie Homo, Sheila Menezes, Paige Parsons,
Mike Rosati, Julie Schuchard, Shoka Shafiee, Matt Seuferer and Deb

For
Noise Pop shows, we do not know how many tickets will be available at
the door for the general public until an hour after doors open. The
reason is that we are required to save the space for people who bought
Noise Pop festival passes. If only a few people with passes are there,
then the rest can be used for sale at the door.
That
is between when doors open and the first band goes on. After that, any
remaining spots become available.
