Li Xi is a pleasant mix of bubble-gum pop, psychedelic and synthesizer-driven dance music. The band sings about "days spent in gardens, beaches and outer space." Li Xi formed in February 2011, a mutation of a previous project called Sleeptalks. After switching up their sound and changing the lineup, they became Li Xi. Li Xi use dream-pop vocal melodies and combine 60's psychedelia with contemporary electronics and vintage synthesizers. Vocalist Maryann Tran captures a similar innocence and beauty as that from Margo Guryan. Maryann and James usually collaborate on the lyrics together. A common theme used on the record is time and looking back. Their 7" single Macro Garden is out January on 20 Sided Records. Wild Pack Of Canaries RUDY, ALFRED, MATT, JP, MIGS, LONDON Wild Pack of Canaries is from Long Beach, CA. They formed in 2009, playing with a variety of different members until forming the current lineup (which still changes from time to time.) The band that draws influences from psych, prog, punk, experimental rock and hints of tropicalia. 2010 saw the release of the Canaries' first full length, 'The Coroner Can Wait'. They've toured the west coast in support of this album followed by tours in 2011 supporting Free Moral Agents and Avi Buffalo. In 2012 they released the 7" single 'Rain Brain/In Case of Hornets' which was followed by a trip to SXSW with more trips supporting the record throughout the year. Their sophomore full length, 'In The Parian Flesh', is due out in February 2013, which will be supported by more touring in the spring. Wild Pack themselves are an array of several nationalities that inspire the group to delve further into the musical ethos. Thus the resulting sound pulls from various locations and musical sources that assist with distinguishing Wild Pack of Canaries as a multi-layered, cross-cultural band. Their passionate progressive punk is a totally unique listening experience that transfers over during a live setting, so be adventurous and go enjoy what they have to offer. Cannons And Clouds Zachary Blizzard - Vocals/Guitar, Joshua Kane - Bass Guitar, Steven Medd - Drums/Vocals, Brittany Gale - Harp/Vocals, Louis Santucci - Guitar Cannons and Clouds are an eclectic indie rock band hailing from the old city by the bay, San Francisco, Ca. With their consistent and soaring 3-5 part harmonies, the almost symphonic permanent inclusion of classical harpist Brittany Gale, and the trademark confessional balladeering of Zachary Blizzard, sees Cannons and Clouds truly standing out in SF's esteemed, yet saturated independent rock scene. Their coercive and compelling live show has continually broadened and increased an already formidable local fan-base and has also attracted the attention of the San Francisco Bay Guardian, who has handpicked and featured the band twice in their publication. Cannons and Clouds asserts smartly designed, melody-forward, vocally charged, heavy "Indie Post-Rock". Both wistful and dynamic, their music is accentuated by slow-building crescendos, rich multi-part vocal harmonies, and soaring layers of electrically sonic, face-melting, soul-crushing, kegel-clenching convergences of both rhythmic and melodic psychedelia. All while maintaing a propensity for integrating unfeigned ballads and confessional narratives into their manifold framework. Mosshead Andy Runyon - Marty Mattern - Fred Gray - Ben Noble Christoff We're a band of bearded dorks. From Oakland Foxmeat Foxmeats Comedian and radio show host. |
