He is currently working as a solo act, but has been the lead vocalist for the bands Dance Gavin Dance, Emarosa and Ghost Runner on Third. He has an eponymous solo project, with which he has released one studio album and a live album to date. He was also a part of the supergroup, Isles & Glaciers, ultimately leading to its demise. Craig possesses the vocal range of a Tenor and his distinct type of soul-based singing has earned him a high amount of acclaim. Jonny Craig has released a new song with recent collaborator Kyle Lucas entitled “The Party and The Dream.” William Beckett William Beckett (born February 11, 1985) is an American musician best known for his work with the now-defunct Chicago based band The Academy Is... (TAI), who were signed to Atlantic Records/Fueled by Ramen/Decaydance Records. While still in high school in 2002, Beckett and guitarist Mike Carden came together from rival bands in Chicago to form The Academy Is.... In addition to founding the band, Beckett and Carden are credited as the primary songwriters. In 2007, Alex Davies from the BBC described Beckett as a mix of Adam Lazzara and Prince, labeling him "utterly captivating". Beckett has also sung on a number of notable albums by other bands, such as the track "Sophomore Slump Or Comeback Of The Year" from Fall Out Boy's 2005 album, From Under the Cork Tree. He sang backing vocals on Fall Out Boy's "What A Catch, Donnie". Other songs he has sung on include "There's A Class For This" from Cute Is What We Aim For's 2006 album The Same Old Blood Rush with a New Touch, "7 Weeks" from Gym Class Heroes's album As Cruel as School Children, and the Cobra Starship song "Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)," which later appeared on the Snakes On A Plane soundtrack and on Cobra Starship's album While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets under the title "Bring It (Snakes On A Plane)". Beckett also has a songwriting credit on Hey Monday's song "Homecoming" from their debut album Hold On Tight, and on Demi Lovato's song "For The Love Of A Daughter" from her third album "Unbroken." After the demise of The Academy Is..., Beckett announced that he will be working on a solo project, with his first EP , Walk the Talk, released on April 17, 2012; a second EP entitled Winds Will Change (produced by Matt Grabe), with a release date of July 17, 2012, and the main single "Great Night", released on June 19, 2012. Kyle Lucas from Marietta, GA. In the band Vonnegutt. Purple Ribbon Records “Emo rap” is less a genre label than a term used to denigrate emcees who indulge their sensitive side, but Kyle Lucas has apparently decided to take that appellation and run with it. Having declared his attraction to “emo chicks” on Queen of Apologies, the Vonnegutt frontman applies the concept literally on new single Picking up the Pieces. Simon Illa mans the boards, building his high-energy beat around a sample from Pierce the Veil‘s Caraphenalia (And no, that’s not Chipmunked – their voices are actually that high). The freestyle series alum comes with emotionally raw lyricism to match the instrumental, venting his frustrations with a chick who’s turned him into a drug-addled trainwreck before ironically noting that “It’s a therapy session whenever I’m in the booth.” Fellow freestyle contributor STS handles guest duties, expressing his remorse for letting a perfect relationship fall apart on the front. Is Lucas’ latest cross-genre experiment a success? That, of course, is for you to decide. Those digging it can look forward to a new album Coolest Kid on the Playground this summer, as well as catching the artist on this year’s Warped Tour. |
