They are melancholy and entrancing, with ghostly gang vocals and steady, continous rhythms. Egg Shen Andy Minty, Chris Gorham, Erin Brothers, Bryan Cammerer, and Jon Brothers. -From Oakland, California. -Egg Shen is an Oakland-based psychedelic post-rock band. Their droning, progressive songs slowly build into a cataclysmic and moving frenzy of buzzing guitars and dirge-like drums. Waning Susan Hunt, Jim Willig, Benjamin Carpineta, and Ian Black. -From Sacramento, California. -Formed in 2007, Waning began life as a dark ambient duo consisting of Susan Hunt and Jim Willig. After several CD releases, the duo found pure ambient music to be limiting to their artistic vision, and added drummer Scott De Medeiros. The band progressed to a more rock-oriented approach. The band now forges ahead with the rhythm section of Benjamin Carpineta and Ian Black. Waning's sound has branched out from their ambient beginnings, now tying together strains of doom, post-punk, and shoegaze. In 2014, the band released their first concept album "The Funeral Mountains," on Biredinhell Records. The storyline takes inspiration from both California history and the classic tales of Hans Christian Andersen. |
