garage indie punk rock

Terry Malts
Hammy (Guitar)
Nacie (Drums)
Phil (Bass)

-San Francisco, California trio Terry Malts began in late 2009 when three members of Smiths-worshiping indie pop quintet Magic Bullets conceived the band as a less sensitive side project. Guitarist/voclaist Corey Cunningham, aka Hammy, bassist/lead vocalist Phil Benson and drummer/vocalist Nathan Sweatt, aka Nacie, eventually opted to concentrate on Terry Malts full time and Magic Bullets disbanded. Perhaps ashamed of their derivative past, Terry Malts made deliberate efforts to obscure their origins from the press at first, making no mention of Magic Bullets in any statements. Self-classified as "chainsaw pop," the group follows in lines drawn by both classic fuzz-pop institutions like the Ramones and Jesus and Mary Chain, pop-punk roots like the Descendents and Husker Du, and the reverb-coated stable of late-2000s Slumberland Records bedroom pop. The band's first recorded outing was a six-song cassette on Loglady Records in 2010, followed the next year by two 7: singles on Slumberland. In the following years, the band played sporadic gigs in the Bay Area and did several beer-soaked tours up and down the West Coast. Their first full length album, Killing Time, was released in 2012. They returned in 2013 with their cheekily titled sophomore album Nobody Realizes This Is Nowhere.

PANG
Alexa, Candace, Danielle, and Elyse.
-From Oakland/San Francisco, California.
-PANG is a female-fronted punk outfit spreading their musical message from their home base of Oakland. Rhythmic and melodic, punctuated by stabbing lyrics, PANG is classic punk with new energy.

Cold Beat

Hannah Lew
From San Francisco, California.
-As San Francisco post-punk trio Grass Widow, Hannah Lew, Raven Mahon, and Lillian Maring create intriguingly off-kilter harmonies, but in 2013 they've shown that they make pretty awesome music apart, too. In July, Maring released a muted, haunting self-titled solo record under the name Ruby Pins. Now Hannah Lew has begun putting out music for her own solo project, Cold Beat. Part surf-rock, part chopped-up psychedelia, Cold Beat is a musical menagerie tied together by Lew's distinctive foggy vocals.
