Noted for causing spiritual awakening in the members of their congregation, the band's live performances are considered by many- even by those outside of the occult- to be a religious experience. Abandoning modern conveniences for a more corporal connection with the Divine, the group is rumored to have recorded their prayers using ancient methods, including magnetic tapes and primitive amplification. Witnesses to the group's public ceremonies have reported seeing band members storing their ceremonial objects in Gentleman's Clubs after use, and have claimed to have heard sounds previously considered extinct on earth at some regional gatherings. Split Screens Jesse Cafiero, Phil Pristia, Debbie Neigher, Andrew Paul Nelson, and Kyle Kelly Yahner. -From San Francisco, California. -Split Screens is a San Francisco band led by multi-instrumentalist Jesse Cafiero. Born out of his inspiring move out west, Split Screens began as Jesse's creative outlet on the side, slowly taking it's shape while he was busy making his name in the Bay Area as a bass player, sharing the stage at times with the likes of Thao Nguyen, John Vanderslice, and Sean Hayes. Crafted entirely at the enigmatic Coyote Hearing Studios in Oakland, CA, Split Screens' debut self-titled EP was produced and engineered by Jeremy Black. Highlighting the unique voice of the lap steel guitar, Jesse sang and played the majority of instruments on the record, along with the talents of session musicians. The result is a dreamy compilation of songs blending between the themes of life and loss, at moments trance-like and reflective, at other times driven with cacaphonous intensity. - Rainbow Jackson Sam Dagger, Chad Carlisle, Laith Khalaf, and Andy Ford. -From Echo Park, California. -If you've alighted anywhere near Echo Park in the past couple of years, you probably know Rainbow Jackson, the housemates/beer swillers/rock antagonists who take power-pop and turn it into a bar fight. Their newest EP, Perpetual Summer, showcases the band's muscular licks and finds the quartet steering clear of the consciously lo-fi production quality of most LA retro-rockers. In its penchant for sonic pyrotechnics, Rainbow Jackson recalls the grit of '70s pioneers T.
