Eventually expanding the lineup to include guitarist Brenton Carney, bassist Jared Hornbeek, and drummer Kevin Goddard, the band was able to expand its sound in bigger, more sweeping directions. Influenced by classics from The Strokes and Black Keys to Bob Dyland and The Beatles, the Unlikely Candidates have developed a sturdy reputation for a fresh take on classic rock. Picture Atlantic Ryan Blair Daniel Martinez Nikolaus Bartunek -Picture Atlantic is an indie alternative band with an explosive sound and an openhearted approach to songcraft. With hints of new wave, Blur and Jeff Buckley, their youthful exuberance is apparent on every track. Vocalist and guitarist Nikolaus Bartunek is a true standout, leading the way with his striking vocal style and erratic, supercharged performances. Bassist Ryan Blair, keyboardist Brian Graves and drummer Daniel Martinez provide the backbone and creative counterpoint to Nik’s haunting melodies. Since it’s inception the band has cultivated a passionate and devoted local fan base, becoming a staple of the Bay Area music scene and a regular on Live 105’s Soundcheck. They have performed alongside Coldplay, STYX, Say Anything, Eisley, Dan Black, Moneen, and Ozma among others, and were chosen by Aaron Axelsen of Live 105 to perform the Local Stage at the BFD 2013 music festival. Picture Atlantic’s newest release, Digital Tension, is proof of the groups ability to carve their own unique sound. The Owl Mag calls the record “an exquisite mix of thrilling boppy synth highs and dark, heavy bass lows”. The band is currently beginning work on their next album with tentative plans for release later next year. Eyes On The Shore Kayhan Golkar, Antrom Kury, Cory Tauber, and Kyle Albery. -From San Francisco, California. -Eyes On The Shore formed in December 2012 at a small cafe near Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. Kayhan Golkar, Antrom Kury & Cory Tauber came together with song ideas and a vision for their new project. After months of relentless studio work, the band set out to independently record a five song EP. Their self-titled debut is a glimpse of the various influences the band has collectively taken in, ranging from vintage surf-era rock, to a modern take on classic psychedelic and blues genres. |
