After ex-Final Fight drummer James Phillips decided to take a break from the hardcore tendencies of his previous band, he joined forces with Kyle Chadwick, Eric Findlay, and Michael Craver to create a sound that has been described as a "somber combination of indie/punk elements and overtones that inspire and uplift your average punk listener." Featuring a guest vocal performance from Jordan Brown of Set Your Goals on the track "Love," as well as the crystal clear production of acclaimed producer Zack Ohren (Heartsounds, Set Your Goals), it is easy to distinguish the more pop-punk and lightehearted qualities of the band's youthful energy (the average age of the band members being 20) which at first glance is buried beneath the downtrodden lyrical content and darkened sonic musical passages of the debut offering. The combination of the two contrasting musical themes within the bands debut EP "Ghost" has proved successful for the Torrance, CA four-piece, given the overwhelming positive response to the record thus far. Adventures Dom, Reba, Joe, Kimi, and Jami. -From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. -The Pittsburgh band features members of Jami, Reba and Joe from reputable Deathwish Records hardcore band Code Orange Kids who, along with their friends Kimi and Dom, formed earlier this year. Only a few months later, the band recorded their debut self-titled EP and signed with No Sleep Records. While Code Orange Kids are known for their torrential hardcore, Adventures dial back the ferocity by blending their punk and hardcore roots with passion fueled indie-punk riffs and Reba and Joe's raw vocals that result in an emotionally cathartic sound that's easily accessible. Foxing Jon, Conor, Eric, Ricky, and Josh. -From Saint Louis, Missouri. -Foxing is one of those groups that truly refuses to be compartmentalized and locked into one genre. Clear vocals carry poignant words through a dizzying area of musical styles and soundscapes, from eclectic, somber indie ballads to driving, desperate punk anthems. Filled with gang vocals and rhythmic changes, Foxing is an unpredictable, swirling musical experience in the most relatable sense. |
