Tigers Jaw
Brianna Collins and Ben Walsh.
-From Scranton, Pennsylvania.
-This past March, Scranton indie rockers Tigers Jaw announced on their Tumblr that three bnad members were leaving, the maindland dates on their European schedule were cancelled, and that their upcoming gigs would represent "likely the last Tigers Jaw tours for the forseeable future." You can understand why fans would jump to the crazy conclusion that the band had broken up. Things actually just got a little complicated in the short term: they quickly enlisted members of Balance & Composure to fill in for the exiting personnel, and finished up the album that they had been in the process of recording. Now they're on tour as a dynamic two-piece, playing the upbeat, energetic indie punk that they are so known for.

Pity Sex
Sean St. Charles, Brennan Greaves, Britty Drake, and Brandan Pierce.
-From Ann Arbor, Michigan.
-Hailing from Ann Arbor, MI, Pity Sex specialize in foggy, lo-fi noise pop and fuzzed-out, blown-speaker walls of sound, all with their own midwestern emo subtleties. Situated somewhere at the convergence of Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth and Hum, the band's quietest moments are defeated reflections with paintive instrumentals. It's loudest are desperate cries washed in searing, reverby overdrive.

Wild Moth
Austin, Carlos, Marc, and Cal.
-From the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
-One of the Bay Area's most promising young post-punk bands, Wild Moth wants to tear parts of punk culture down. The band honors many aesthetics and ethics of the movement, but aims to dismantle others. It's sound departs from punk's insistent rhythms and concise fury; it's more nuanced, structurally intricate, and melodic. They're thoughtful and progressive, while still retaining the spirit of punk and opposing regimentation at every turn.
