The three members represent most of San Jose's unsung punk rock heroes Shinobu and Pteradon, who have continued to live int he town. They also represent 3/4 of Jesse Michael's new band, Classics Of Love. Not surprisingly, their first EP is totally awesome and lives up to the precedent that has been set forth, mixing minimal sunny indie rock with furious spastic punk rock and everything in between. Summer Vacation Sean, Mark, Aaron, and Mayhem. -From Southern California. -Summer Vacation is a band made up of four people, who hail from all across Southern California, from the San Gabriel Valley to Corona. Two of them started playing music together in spring 2009, but that was a completely different band. Three of them then joined and started playing with the group XSVX later that year, and the four of them finally came together in winter 2010. They play melodic punk with upbeat boppin'-poppin' beats to get down to. It's harmonic and quick, with periods of heavy, classic punk vibes. Shinobu Jon Fu, Mike Huguenor, Matt Keegan, and Bob Vielma. -From San Jose, California. -Shinobu is one of the great indie/punk rock groups to come out of San Jose. With members who boast diverse and extensive musical careers and a thriving musical scene to play in, Shinobu has been producing their brand of kick-ass indie punk all northern California. Purveyors of "jangly noodly punk rock," Shinobu feels like Pavement getting into a car crash or Built to Spill drinking Steel Reserve. Influenced by bands such as the Weakerthans, New Order, The Pixies, and the aforementioned Pavement, Shinobu is an eclectic indie rock tour de force. Leer Brandon Holder, Panchito Duarte, Drew Satterlund, and Dan Vo. -From San Jose, California. -Leer is another of the quality up-and-coming, punk-influenced musical amalgamations breaking out of the San Jose music scene. Their youthful energy blasts through with every song, with driving rhythms and melodic guitar riffs. |
