Free Salamander Exhibit
Nils Frykdahl, Michael Mellender, Dan Rathbun, David Shamrock, and Drew Wheeler.
-From Oakland, California.
-Current research indicates that within two years of use, a pillow's weight increases by 30% due to the accumulation of dead skin cells, dust mites, and their droppings. In a similar fashion, Free Salamander Exhibit has gradually augmented its own weight through an accumulation of musical and literary droppings, distilled these into creative impulses- impulses commited to memory and subsequently forgotten.

Composed of former members of Sleepytime Gorilla and currently based in Oakland, CA, Free Salamander Exhibit continues to shed its dead skin cells, casting off an accumulated detritus of metal, prog-rock, and art-rock influences. Nils, Dan, Michael, David, and Drew meet regularly in an underground concrete shelter. Here they sit at an oval-shaped table in a spirit of constructive argumentation, poring over the nature of memory and the illusory promise of free will. Eventually they emerge, ready again to absorb the environmental stimuli that nourish their world-view. Through this circular process of absorption and molting, Free Salamander Exhibit hopes to augment the mass of your own pillow as well.

Dead Rider
Todd Rittmann, Andrew Faught, Matt Espy, and Thymme Jones.
-From Chicago, Illinois.
-Led by ex-US Maple guitarist Todd Rittmann, Dead Rider (formerly D. Rider) released their darkly psychedelic debut album, Mother Of Curses, in 2009 while touring the country and gaining a reputation as a challenging and entertaining powerhouse. Releasing their follow-up, The Raw Dents on Tizona Records in 2011, Dead Rider carry the torch of Chicago art-rock weirdness.

Faun Fables
Dawn McCarthy and Nils Frykdahl.
-From Oakland, California.
-Faun Fables is a crossroads where ancient ballad, art song, physical theater and rock music meet. The lyrics speak to people of all ages about things like rugged housekeeping, street kids, growing old, sleepwalking, and exiled travelers returning home.

Dawn McCarthy was raised in Spokane, WA by two piano players from Chicago and grew up making sounds and dances with a big family. Her primary education and inspiration have come from all kinds of unorthodox and self-taught means. At home, her parents played romantic, impressionistic and folkloric melodies via Bartok and Debussy, while older siblings helped develop her taste for rock and experimental music.
A solo & musical exploration through Europle plus a fateful meeting with Oakland-based entertainer Nils Frykdahl began a creative chapter in 1997 that eventually relocated her to the thriving arts community of the Bay Area.
