When it comes to creating their desired sound, JEFF believes that less is more. This idea is reflected in Jake’s decision to play a guitar with only three strings. Jake explains, “When we started the band, I didn’t know how to play guitar," he remembers, “I thought, in order to teach myself, it would be easier to play if I simplified it. I started with two strings, but you can’t really play any chords that way, so I added a third string [which added] this interesting limitation that forced me to create my own style and approach to the instrument.” Music Band Lee Harry & Duncan -from Nashville, TN - Music Band nails the nifty trick of sounding loose as hell while playing extremely tight. Music Band's demeanor in everything they do shouts their apparent mantra, "Always be nice, always try to look cool in pictures, and rock and roll forever." Big Surr -BIG SURR is a band made up of five beach babes from Nashville, TN, now in SF: Nashville >>> San Francisco SF: Helen, Hunter, Walter, Seth, Steve Nashville: Helen Vanana, Casey Wisebeard, Evan Seabird, Emmett High Life, Ronnie James Deod -a fun band made up of five bbs who like to eat pizza and ice cream The beach vibes are abound. Big Surr churn out their frothy beach pop, which creates a warming and heavy shoegaze sound that will have no trouble swallowing you whole in one big bite. This becomes clear in “Cosine Tangent,” a song that literally sounds like it’s in slow-motion. This drawn-out track employs the use of soft, glinting guitars, which creates the feeling that you’re squinting while walking outside in the beating hot sun and simultaneously dragging your feet across the floor. The song bursts open at the seams a bit toward the end with a head-splitting guitar shrill, signaling the finale of this epic beachgaze track with a crunchy and memorable solo. Other songs turn out to be much more upbeat and poppy. The atmosphere of these songs is the kind of environment that you would want to live in. |
