Starting on piano at age five and then moving on to violin, trumpet, and guitar, the Whiskerman singer and frontman has cultivated a unique sound that is hard to pinpoint. His voice ranges from smoky to soaring, while his songs span a wide array of moods and genres, yet always remain soulful. Behind him is a tight band of professional musicians, and together they are quickly becoming a force in the SF Bay Area. decker. Brandon Decker and Kelly Cole. -From Sedona, Arizona. -Soldiering through the near-calamity of a rollover accident while on tour in California, the band is a now tight unit of melody, atmosphere, and space; not merely the brainchild of songwriter Brandon Decker. Decker crafts songs which find profundity in their naked sincerity. Not quite rock, not quite folk, the acoustic-based psychedelic Americana balladry draws upon a variety of influences; from Leonard Cohen to Tom Waits, from Cat Power to PJ Harvey. Yet in the end, his music is unique and uniquely him, and that is the offering.
