-Minibosses is an independent progressive rock band originally from Northampton, Massachusetts and now located in Phoenix, Arizona.
-They are known for their video game music covers, which are instrumental rock variations of the theme music from classic Nintendo video games such as Mega Man, Metroid, and Castlevania. Such covers earned Minibosses the best cover band award in the Phoenix New Times Best of Phoenix 2006.
Minibosses have a following amongst video game music fans, and they allow fans to download many free songs on their website. Much of their following has come from their constant playing of concerts at local clubs around Arizona and other cities in the southwest. Fans refer to themselves as "Minibossies" and are known to travel great distances to see the band. The band has also formed a following on their web forums, which is host to tour announcements, new video game covers from other remixers, and the Dwelling of Duels video game music competition.

Curious Quail
a five-piece indie rock / electropop / orchestral band from San Jose, California. (used to be a 7-piece)
This now sextet (or septet) band first started off as a guitar/electro project by Mike Shirley-Donnelly but quickly grew to feature members with their own eclectic tastes and background in music. Curious Quail released its first EP The Glow in 2009, before all current members were officially in the band. Curious Quail’s latest album is After The Lights Failed, from May 2014. Their previous album .:Instant Gratification:. (released summer 2012) features guest vocalist Erin Whitworth of San Francisco band Please Do Not Fight and other guest appearances made by CQ’s extended family: Nicole Garber, Jessica Shirley-Donnelly and Magdalena Trenkner.

“Thank you, Mike Shirley-Donnelly, for taking back clever titles from the emo and math bands. The San Jose singer/songwriter started Curious Quail as a channel for solo acoustic songs, but what it’s become is infinitely more bizarre—and fascinating. Now songs like “Secret Lives of Retail Monkeys” and “Yesterday I Watched the World End” are wrapped in electro beats that may spin off into unexpected, soaring directions at any time. His one-man project has become a six(or seven)-man band, adding to the epic drama of a sound that juxtaposes starkly with the immediate intimacy of the lyrics.”

In May 2013, Curious Quail won the last remaining spot on Live 105’s Soundcheck local band stage at BFD 2013. Sharing the stage with nine other bay area bands, three of which are also from the South Bay—Picture Atlantic, Anya and the Getdown, and the Trims. Not only did Curious Quail win, but they did so by a sizable margin, earning a whopping 39% of the vote, with twenty bands total in the running.

GnarBoots.
-From San Jose, California.
-GnarBoots is a dynamic, formless entity of musical non-conformity. They don't practice, and anything goes.
Formed by members of Link–80, Shinobu and countless other Bay Area heavyweights, Gnarboots came to be in 2009 with the sole intent of creating chaos and good times through their music, both recorded and live. Since their formation the band has played with the likes of Bomb The Music Industry!, Hard Girls, Kepi Ghoulie and Sean Bonette (Andrew Jackson Jihad). Gnarboots is typically associated with their wide variety of musical stylings (ranging from Garage Rock to 80's synth–pop), as well as thheir boisterous live shows which have been known to include free style rapping, improvised dance numbers and the occasional chicken fight.
