Real ROCK. Picked by Live105 as a top-20 finalist in the BFD contest this year, 2014. Sutrero Bob Nick -from SF -Born from the imagination of guitarist/singer/songwriter Bob Nick, Sutrero takes its inspiration from the proto-metal of Black Sabbath and the intricate instrumental interplay of classic British metal bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. The group then adds an adventurous sense of melody delivered with broad dynamic strokes, creating a sound both classic and modern. Drummer Todd Collins and bassist Braden Towne round out this potent San Francisco-based trio poised to shake the foundations of the local hard rock scene. Black Belt Karate Ryan Hanifl - vocals Jason Achilles Mezilis - guitar Harry Ostrem - bass Ryan Brown ("R&B") - drums - -Black Belt KARATE formed in summer 2012 after one-time bandmates Mezilis (also in the L.A. hard rock band Owl, with Chris Wyse of The Cult) and vocalist Ryan Hanifl reconnected after playing together in indie rock band Your Horrible Smile. The quartet is rounded out by bassist Harry Anthony Ostrem and drummer Ryan Brown – both veterans of countless stage, film and studio work who have recently collaborated with members of Guns N’ Roses, Rush and David Bowie. The band's marriage of traditional and cutting edge modern business ethic is also reflected in their music...at once driving & tight melodic So-Cal desert rock and progressive vocal arrangements, but fueled with an old-school east coast frenetic punk energy, attitude, and grit. |
