The group formed in 2010, originally as Whirl, but had to legally change its name after a woman performing acoustic covers of Black Sabbath songs trademarked the name and threatened a lawsuit. Whirr's shoegaze sound is often compared to My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. Founding guitarist Nick Bassett also played in the band Deafheaven surrounding and including the release of their 2011 album, Roads to Judah. Whirr released their second studio album Sway on September 23, 2014 through Graveface. Pity Sex Sean St. Charles Brennan Greaves Britty Drake Brandan Pierce -From Ann Arbor, Michigan -Having formed in early 2012, Pity Sex would go on to release their debut EP, Dark World later that year on Forward Records to positive reviews. In 2013 the band released their debut album "Feast of Love" on Run For Cover Records. Following the band signing to Run For Cover Records the Dark World EP would also be re-released through Run For Cover Records. - Happy Diving Matt Berry - Guitar/Vocals Matt Yanko - Guitar Mikey Rivera - Bass Samuelito Cruz - Drums -Listening to Bay Area's Happy Diving it’s hard to believe that they’ve only been together since 2013. A year ago, friends Matt Berry, Samuelito Cruz, Mikey Rivera, and Matt Yankovich decided to form a band after previous projects fell apart. Since then they’ve been busy making music that fans of Tony Molina, Connecticut’s Ovlov and early Weezer can appreciate. - |
