Shinobu phatnphunky.com/ (Record release show) pop punk Winter Break sites.google.com/site/winterbreakband3/ punk Diners diners.bandcamp.com/ fun pop-rock Organized Grime www.facebook.com/grimegrimegrime punk rock Shinobu Jon Fu, Mike Huguenor, Matt Keegan, and Bob Vielma. -From San Jose, California. - -Shinobu is one of the great indie/punk rock groups to come out of San Jose. With members who boast diverse and extensive musical careers and a thriving musical scene to play in, Shinobu has been producing their brand of kick-ass indie punk all northern California. Purveyors of "jangly noodly punk rock," Shinobu feels like Pavement getting into a car crash or Built to Spill drinking Steel Reserve. Influenced by bands such as the Weakerthans, New Order, The Pixies, and the aforementioned Pavement, Shinobu is an eclectic indie rock tour de force. Winter Break Aaron plays drums. Mark plays guitar and sings. Matt plays bass and sings occasionally. -from Southern California -Winter Break's three members all used to play in a band called Summer Vacation. You can listen to their old band here - http://summervacation.bandcamp.com/ Winter Break just finished recording their 12 song album. The LP record will be released early 2015. Diners Tyler Broderick, Tristan Jemsek, Christian Reeb, Robert Raya and (sometimes) Jill Cook -from Phoenix, Arizona -Tyler Broderick, who heads up Diners, certainly understands the idea of an album as a cohesive listening experience; “Always Room” ebbs and flows, wanders off into a dream only to return to moody sentimentality that makes Diners such a delicious listening experience that you won’t be able to get out of your head. Hailing from the Valley of the Sun, this desert pop outfit, Diners — is served with a hearty side of summertime vibes and wistful lyrics. Organized Grime Tonysen, Byogwart, Dane Dubious, Bug Du Luche -from San Jose, The Bay Area Kindof. -Who dares to categorize us? You can't pigeonhole us. You can't explain us away. We are, at least we seem to be, but that is all that can be nailed down. Nothing is permanent, everything is in flux. Nothing is original, everything is a derivative. And to ask what "style" or "genre" we ascribe to, we are merely a cultural mirror to the status quo. In effect, you ask who we are, you are only asking yourself. And what are we besides a model of what we might be, a shadow of what we could have been, the memory of what we could someday be...punk tho. |
