Brubaker
Neil Franklin & Gene Smith (Kai Kln), Larry Boothroyd (Victims Family/Hellworms), Christian Riley (Bluchunks/Walrus).
-One band against a cruel system.
-
"Taking its name from the gritty 1980 prison-corruption drama starring Robert Redford, local hard-rock supergroup Brubaker deals out burly, tough-as-nails tunes befitting the moniker. If you are a Bay Area music fan who wonders why 107.7 "The Bone" struggles to play anything from the past decade and can't handle the testicle-challenged indie wimp rock of Live 105, Brubaker offers the prescription for what ails you... matching Smith’s gruff, authoritative growl and wailing slide guitar to Riley’s inventive riffs and the relentless groove of the muscular rhythm section, Brubaker quickly assembled an arsenal of head-banging, Southern-fried boogie jams. With a bluesy vibe that hearkened back to the members’ favorite heavy rock from the 1970s while still bringing in elements of hardcore fury and grunge heft, some of the songs sounded like Molly Hatchet or Ram Jam being blasted out of a punk-rock cannon."  -Dave Pehling

Blackwülf
-from Oakland, CA
-"Heavy on the heavy, doomy on the riffing,
this vintage metal band from Oakland, CA
has hit the nail on the proverbial head."
- Heavy Planet

"Melodic but hard-riffin’ doom from California.
Bang your head to this cool, crunching metal
and savour the hints of 70s/vintage rock."
- Doom Metal Heaven

"A new band on our radar and one we won't
quickly forget. Local boys, Blackwulf
devastate with their riff-mad stoner heaviness."
- The Ripple Effect

Serpent Crown
Dara Santhai- guitar, vocals; Tommy- bass
-from SF/Oakland
-The Bay Area has long been a nexus for heavy metal, hard core punk, and devastating doom....Combining the best of the Bay Area traditions of thrash, heavy rock, and hardcore to create their own sound, enter Serpent Crown. Without being completely sub-genre specific, Serpent Crown plays metal that is largely in your face, with thick riffs, searing solos, and pummeling rhythms..straightforward and crafted for head banging. The band released its first demo in 2009, but progress and overall band activity was pretty sparse due to lineup changes and issues. Since its first official release was a self-titled EP in 2013 through the Philadelphia based record label Horror Pain Gore Death Productions, the band has gained momentum, touring along the West Coast and performing around the Bay Area.
For fans of Sacrilege (UK), High On Fire, and 80s metal.
