Parkway -from Oakland, CA -We're a fairly new band who plays original material. I'm not sure how to pigeonhole our sound, but someone who recently saw us play described it as ShoeWave (a mix between shoegaze and new wave). I think our sound is fairly original and the songwriting is solid. A few of our influences include Deerhunter, Animal Collective, Joy Division, David Bowie, Flaming Lips, Beach House, Grizzly Bear, Pavement, Radiohead, TV on the Radio, The Cure and New Order. [...and Atlas Sound, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Mazzy Star, Of Montreal, Walkmen, Sujan Stevens] We were a five piece -- drums, 2 guitars, bass, vocals/synth -- Brave Ulysses Noah Baldwin-Vocals, Rhythm Guitar Harrison Flynn-Lead Guitar Tyler Bach-Guitar Chris Tuck-Bass Jared Cvetich-Drums - from Martinez, California / formed in 2011 - Brave Ulysses is influenced by classic rock groups like Led Zeppelin, Cream and Rush while also drawing inspiration from 90's rock bands like Nirvana and Foo Fighters.
