Bias Tape Members: Amal Bisharat (vocals/guitar), Stephen Brennan (vocals/guitar), Robert Wong (bass), Michael Russell (drums) - from San Francisco, CA First of all, Amal Bisharat is basically a cabaret singer in a pop/rock band. And like a good cabaret performer she offers a character that is interesting for it's ambiguity and range, and is well worth watching closely for the shades that are there. Second of all, she is backed by an extremely able group of musicians. Third of all, Bias Tape's songs are original and creative and consistently have the quality of dropping the listener midway into some intriguing story. The result is... Bias Tape has mastered what showpersons have long known-- how to leave an audience wanting more. Raven Marcus Members: Natalia Montana Rose Miner - vox, mandolin Rob Johnson - drums, harmonica, washboard Bronwyn Dexter - bass guitar - from San Francisco, CA This female fronted trio falls under the genre is Cowboy Glam Rock; think mandolin inspired rock and roll with lots of gold glitter and a hint of twang. If The Slits morphed with David Bowie and had harmonies like a feminine Simon and Garfunkel, you'd be pretty close to Raven Marcus. This debut northwest tour is bound to create a buzz about this energetic up and coming band and their exciting new genre. Natalia Rose Miner's distorted mandolin tones, emotional lyrics and impressive vocal range are the beginning of what sets Raven Marcus apart from other bands. She met drummer Rob Johnson at the historic Ferry Building in San Francisco where they both worked and after some pestering from Johnson they started playing music together in 2011. Johnson's creative percussive style added the perfect beat to Miner's mid song time signature changes and funky transitions. The band was solidified in April 2012 with the addition of bassist and vocalist, Bronwyn Dexter. Born and raised in Seattle, WA, Dexter's teenage years were heavily influenced by 90's K Records bands. Her bass lines span the bridge between rhythm and lead, while her voice melts with Miner's to create buttery harmonies. Raven Marcus coined the genre Cowboy Glam Rock to encompass their theatrical, sexually charged performance style and their divergent instrumentation. ------ Previous show canceled: Wednesday February

Some express these journeys in words, musicians however lay everything out in their songs and music allowing the listener into their world as part of a lyrical soul cleansing. ‘The Chronicles of Tim Powers’, the new album from Texan band PEOPLE ON VACATION, is just that, an open musical diary to the world. The follow up to 2012’s ‘The Summer & The Fall’ takes a massive leap in emotion and melody for this unique song writing team. Whilst the unmistakable hooks and chorus lines that have become the benchmark of Grammy Nominated Jaret Reddick and multitalented singer Ryan Hamilton’s collaborations are once again at the forefront, it would be hard to ignore the strong sense of loss found within the songs, detailing a journey to pull through what has, quite obviously, been one of the hardest times in an individual’s life. Following several successful tours of the UK, including a sell out run with platinum selling rockers BLUE OCTOBER along numerous US shows, PEOPLE ON VACATION are truly beginning to find their own niche -‐ combining timeless and classic songwriting talent with a modern day approach at interacting with their fans. With ‘The Chronicles of Tim Powers’ already tipped as one of 2014’s finest releases, it’s only good things set to arrive from here on, as more people become aware of this truly unique band. |
