No Joy
-No Joy are a Canadian shoegazing band from Montréal formed in late 2009 by Jasamine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd.
-On Mexican Summer

-The Montreal/LA ladies No Joy build upon the revitalization of shoegaze pop in recent times with a melodic fervor and angst that many of their contemporaries fail to capitalize on. Their records look and sound gorgeous. There are moments on Ghost Blonde that match the challenges laid down by My Bloody Valentine and Lush years ago.

Devon Williams
-from Los Angeles
-Devon Williams performs a shimmering pop music that tempers sweetness and bliss with an honest, unguarded perspective. Williams' music is informed by his broad musical knowledge and diverse tastes; while the past echoes through his tunes, his song-writing skills, strong musical voice and arrangement/production prowess mark him as a truly unique talent on the scene. The past can be a window on the present, and Williams' distinctive blend of power-pop, orchestrated soft-rock, folk-rock and lush, layered jangle-pop takes full flight on their album Euphoria.

Vaniish
Keven Tecon
Amy Rosenoff
Adam Beck
Nick Ott
-from SF
-When Kevin Tecon decided to leave his other bands (Wax Idols, Veil Veil Vanish and the Soft Moon) after an unfortunate loss two years ago, it was slightly unclear as to what would come from him and this tragedy. Following a much necessary and restful return back to the states after touring in Europe, Tecon decided to get Vaniish underway with former band member Amy Rosenoff, Nick Ott, and Adam Beck. Vaniish's sound is like that of Tecon's other projects, in the best way possible. Super synth heavy, with post apocalyptic industrial noise. Their first release, Memory Work, is out now for your listening pleasure.

Chasms
Jess Labrador and Shannen Madden

Shoegaze isn't just alive and well, but also blowing up in a modern sense. We can in part thank San Francisco's Chasms for that. Such a seemingly simple musical formula can very easily be botched, yet
guitarist and vocalist Jess Labrador and Shannen Sky Madden, her collaborator, the duo comprising Chasms, execute this simplicity beautifully. They couldn’t be more perfectly matched: Bass drums loudly stampede through your aural faculty, trailed by synthesizers and low-toned drone vocals that gently fade in and out when the song calls for it. In a time where dark, doom, and goth are prevailing over all else, Chasms has a place to be welcomed and received.

You could put Chasms somewhere along the lines of having heavy industrial or shoegaze influences, but the bottom line is this: The difficulty of categorizing them neatly on a bill is a great testament to their uniqueness. What has emerged is something that is both menacing and beautiful. I like how they put it themselves when they simply said, “We shred.”
