-The Heavenly States (formed in 2002) have made news and garnered outstanding reviews and features in Newsweek, The Washington Post, Billboard, Spinner, The Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, Spin, NPR’s All Songs Considered, Magnet, The San Francisco Chronicle, The San Francisco Bay Guardian, Reuters, Alternative Press, The Daily Telegraph (London), The Guardian (London) and others. The band's touring adventures have been documented by The New York Times, NPR's All Things Considered, NBC News, CNN and Reuters (Libya, Tunisia, London).

The band has performed live on WXRT (Chicago), KFOG (SF), 89.3 The Current (MN), and KEXP (Seattle) and has been featured on many community and internet radio stations. Veterans of the SXSW and Sasquatch music festivals, The Heavenly States have toured the USA, Australia, the UK, Egypt, and were the first rock band to play Libya.  They performed at the Kennedy Center in 2012.

The New Up
-The New Up's music has been described in many ways, but NBC San Diego said it best when they called the band "a clear standout... [this] San Francisco five-piece specializes in dark, dreamy rock with gorgeous female vocals." Flagpole coined the band's music as "striking, exotic and brashly coherent indie pop that feel[s] like the sonic equivalent of a thrill ride." However you describe it, The New Up's music integrates catchy and engaging vocal melodies, ethereal vocal harmonies, powerful lyrical themes and beats that make you wanna move.

-The New Up is striking, exotic and brashly coherent indie pop that feels like the sonic equivalent of a thrill ride.
Dark but catchy and danceable, this is hip modern pop with a strong psychedelic streak.

Verst
John Dickey - guitar, vocals //
John Parsons - bass guitar, vocals //
Brandon Hemley - drums, vocals //
Mark Marvelous - keyboards, guitar, vocals
-from SF
-In some parts of the city, ‘two johns’ would just mean a slow night for a tenderloin hooker. But in the rock clubs and bars Verst frequents, we hope that those two words will soon be the code phrase for “an outlandishly melodic assault of postmodern proportions.” Former leaders of Pie & Richard Bitch (John Dickey on guitar) and Rule of Thumb (John Parsons on bass and Brandon Hemley on drums) have joined forces to create the kind of music that kicks you in the head and leaves a footprint on your brain. Mark Marvelous on guitar and keyboards completes the lineup.
