Formed in October 2014, the members quickly bonded over a shared love of American roots music. Three months later, they recorded a debut EP of songs influenced by: John Lee Hooker, The Meters, Led Zeppelin, Ray LaMontagne, and Jeff Buckley. A fall 2015 EP release and tour are in the works. A Yawn Worth Yelling Tyler | Taylor | Johannes | Brayden | Rob | Ryan -from San Jose For emerging indie-rock outfit A Yawn Worth Yelling, thinking different is more than just a revolutionary marketing catchphrase; it’s a way of life deeply ingrained in the personalities of the young musicians that comprise the San Jose, California four-piece. The band’s sophisticated, and whimsical indie-rock sound hosts dashes of math-rock and alternative rock with the experimental style paying homage to influences such as The Dirty Projectors, Young The Giant, Manchester Orchestra, Vampire Weekend, and Grouplove, among others. Following a successful northwestern tour, the group’s unshakable togetherness and chemistry further came to the forefront as the band jumped head-first into the recording process for their fourth release, out fall 2015. Andrew Blair Andrew Blair -from Oakland, CA We Became Owls is the collective musical expression of East Bay natives Andrew Blair (Vocals, guitar) and Ross Warner (mandolin, accordion, harmonica, lap steel guitar, electric guitar, etc) with a rotating and ever changing group of supporting elements, most recently being, Robin Ward (cello), Scott Manke (banjo, dobro, percussion), Sigal Sahar (stand up bass), Katie Schlesinger (piano, banjo, vocals) and Audrey Baker and Jessica Reimche (backup vocals) supporting the movement. Blair and Warner grew up blocks away from each other, writing and listening to music since middle school. They are inspired by songs that make you feel. |
