Channelling influences such as My Bloody Valentine, Fugazi, The Cure, The Smiths and The Velvet Underground into their own unique sonic fingerprint, the band released their eponymous EP in 2007. This was followed by a string of singles and a series of international tours hitting both coasts and the streets of the UK and Japan. The band's debut full-length album, Colour Trip, was released in February 2011 by Club AC30, followed by EPs collection Sparkler, and second album Mauve. They began 2014 with the God's Dream EP, released in North America on Neon Sigh and Noyes, and have built a reputation for touring the US and Japan annually. bed. Incorporating twin vocals and a healthy dose of fuzz and reverb, the trio was on the list of top ten Portland bands to watch at Treefort this year by the Oregonian. Plush is a four-piece originating from San Francisco, with members of local SF legends The She’s. While their debut LP, Pine, is a beautiful combination of surf-rock and shoe gaze, their auspicious new release, Please, encapsulates a completely different tone, both sonically and lyrically. Lush and warm, it has cinematic quality which suggests, somehow, that each track takes place in a different climate. With the angular and ethereal falsetto of Karli Helm contrasted by the hypnotic and unwavering voice of Eva Treadway, Please echoes a melancholic honesty that captures the album’s heart-breaking, yet insightful versatility, deriving from both Wowee Zowee era Pavement and Painful era Yo La Tengo. Sonically, the album embraces twinkling guitar tones that are blitzed with spurts of grainy fuzz, flaringly precise and graceful drums, as well as complimentary bass riffs that swirl and swoon each track, working in unison to pin-point these heart-wrenching emotions with clarity and catharsis.
