Film School
Greg Bertens, Jason Ruck, Nyles Lannon, Justin Labo, Donny Newenhouse;
-from San Francisco/LA, CA

-Inspired by post-punk, dreamy pop, and a touch of electronica, the San Francisco-based band Film School started in 1998 as a two-piece band. The band was formed in 1998 by lead singer Greg Bertens [aka Krayg Burton]. Initially the band only consisted of Bertens working with members of Fuck and Pavement when they released their debut album Brilliant Career on MeToo! records in 2001. Jason Ruck (keyboards), Nyles Lannon (guitarist), Justin Labo (bass guitar), and Ben Montesano (drums) joined the band on a permanent basis later that year.

In 2003, the band released Alwaysnever, an EP on Amazing Grease Records, a record label founded by Scott Kannberg from the band Pavement. Donny Newenhouse later replaced Montesano on drums. Their self-titled album was released in January 2006 on Beggars Banquet Records. Film School has also provided music for a series of short films by Demetri Martin, known collectively as "Clearification", an advertising campaign for Windows Vista.

Film School released its third album (its second on Beggars Banquet) called Hideout in September 2007 after going through some line-up changes. Lorelei Plotczyk / Lorelei Meetze replaced Justin Labo on bass, Dave Dupuis replaced Nyles Lannon on guitar, and James Smith replaced Donny Newenhouse on drums. Hideout was recorded with Dan Long and mixed by Phil Ek.

The fourth album, Fission, was released on Hi-Speed Soul in August 2010 to mixed reviews as the band's exploration of new territory delighted some at the same time as it disappointed others.

Film School played its last official show on February 24, 2011 and subsequently became inactive. The band's self-titled album lineup reunited on September 5, 2014, to play a special, one-off show at San Francisco's Bottom of the Hill as a tribute for Newenhouse's 40th birthday. Given the occasion, the set focused on early Film School material. Film School is now on Instagram. As we head into 2016 we’ll be sharing news about upcoming releases, shows, photos, artwork, videos, and whatever else. You can follow us @filmschoolmusic

The Stratford 4
Sheetal Singh, Andrea Caturegli, Chris Streng, Jake Hosek
-from San Francisco, CA-

-The Stratford 4 build their own noise-pop sound from wavering layers of guitar (ala My Bloody Valentine) on a foundation of Yo La Tengo-esque psychedelia. Imagine the spacious interiors of Sigur Ros splashed with dark strokes of the Velvet Underground. Or not, it's up to you. Part of a close-knit group of San Francisco bands, S4 are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Sheetal is a co-founder of the Popular Noise Foundation, a community organization for musicians. Another cool thing about the band is that Sheetal and Andrea are members of a rare and elusive species, the All-female Rhythm Section, a welcome sight in this often testosterone dominated modern-rock ecosystem.

Fake Your Own Death
Terry Ashkinos - Vocals/Guitar, Scott Eberhardt - Drums, Adrian McCullough - Bass
-from San Francisco, CA

-You don’t have to actually die to start over, but you might have to pretend to. Fake Your Own Death have been compared to Echo and the Bunnymen, Sonic Youth, Interpol and Jesus and Mary Chain. Sometimes known as El Terrible, FYOD have played with bands like The Warlocks, Blood Red Shoes, Film School, White Denim, Bob Mould and Gang of Four.

The Tet Holiday
B. Farmer, A. Gibbons, A. Ledford
-from Oakland, CA

-The Tet Holiday is an Oakland-based band featuring Andrew Ledford (vocals, guitars), Austin Gibbons (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Brandon Farmer (drums). Formed in 2006, with three sequentially numbered EPs to their credit, they will be releasing their debut album, Statues, in early 2016. Drawing on influences from R.E.M. to My Bloody Valentine to Nirvana, their songs balance the manic energy of rock'n'roll with earworm melodies, waves of distortion, bittersweet introspection, and pure volume.
