Since then, she has made a large swath of fans in the Bay Area, where she finds herself these days, one song at a time, one fan at a time.” - (Oakland Tribune) A true singer-songwriter at heart, she weaves a silver tapestry drawing from diverse influences such as David Bowie, Elton John, Sinead O’Connor, Jack White and Joni Mitchell. Lisa Marie Johnston -from Oakland, CA - -Lisa Marie Johnston, affectionately referred to as "LMJ," is a singer/songwriter from Oakland, Ca. She blends country, americana, and blues into a unique style she calls "Stomp and Groove." LMJ represents a new breed of independent artists as a fully self managed, self funded recording artist and self published songwriter. The band has been keeping busy in the Bay Area music scene for many years. She is a regular in the Fillmore Poster Room at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco, and is featured on KFOG’s local scene for her song “Home To Oakland.” LMJ recently played a TED Talk in San Francisco and played the Women’s stage at SF Pride in 2012 and 2014. LMJ has a new collection of recordings coming out SPRING 2016 produced by Matt Winegar. The new collection features two duets with Lukas Nelson (POTR), Arion Salazar on bass, Anthony Logerfo (POTR) on drums, as well as appearances from many other great musicians. Telepathic Birds Feona Lee Jones + a forever changing lineup of musicians who have co-mingled in the delicious creative process -from Concord, CA -Telepathic Birds is a dreamy, melancholic, ambient, synth pop, shoegaze-y, new wave, space rock trio, with punk rock undertones (think Air, Julianna Barwick, Gary Numan, Cocteau Twins, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Devo, Love & Rockets, Molly Nilsson, New Order, Sonic Youth, Cat Power, and The Pixies all mixed together). The band was originally created with Tony Cameron in 2013 in Concord, CA. The music is moody (think Portishead but not triphop-y), heavily layered, and less dance-y. |
