The band creates diverse sonic landscapes that range from radiant and inspiring to dark and mournful, supporting McCaffrey’s lyrics steeped in empathy and yearning as struggle evolves into hope. Big Light Bradly Bifulco - Drums, Fred Torphy - Guitar, Vocals, Marc Friedman- Bass, Guitars, Synth Jeremy Korpas - Guitar, Jeff Coleman - Keyboards, Vocals -from San Francisco, CA -After a four year absence from the stage, Big Light returned in the summer of 2015, playing a set where it all started for them- a campground at the High Sierra Music Festival. Re-formed as a trio by founding members Fred Torphy, Bradly Bifulco and Steve Adams, the band has quickly re-discovered what brought them together back in 2007: massive hooks, Wilco-esque harmonies, and a penchant for playing with their hearts firmly placed on their sleeves. While the band is playing some songs from their mostly unnoticed 2012 production, The Well Wishers, they are also pulling material from their debut EP and their most well-known recording- Animals In Bloom. Currently working on a batch of new material, Big Light plans to record a new LP at some point in 2016. Scary Little Friends Chris Jones - Vocals, Guitar; Charlie Knote - Drums; Jon Payne - Bass . -from San Francisco, CA -“Scary Little Friends is the best kept secret in the San Francisco music scene, and that needs to change… [The band] is vocally strong and instrumentally tight. The lineup for Outside Lands was announced yesterday, but there are always some additions after the first announcement. We nominate Scary Little Friends.” – Collie McOreo, Indie Obsessive Scary Little Friends is the rock brainchild of Chris Jones with Charlie Knote on drums and Jon Payne on bass. Chris built his own studio in the Mission district to record their debut album, “From the Beginning”, which featured lilting vocals (ala Jeff Buckley) and surfs-up psychedelic guitar, creating their own version of the “San Francisco Sound” with underlying southern soul roots. Strong songwriting is really the bread and butter of this band. Scary Little Friend’s live shows combine an understated professionalism with raw talent. They connect with their audience the old-fashioned way by offering authentic heartfelt performances that fulfill our desire to connect. No gimmicks or tricks, just great songs about what you were thinking but couldn’t say. |
