The EPs were united by minimalist, R&B-influenced instrumentation, and also by a lyrical theme, with both serving as meditations on the darkness that underpins the most intense of human emotions: love. less Only Now Kush Arora -from San Francisco, CA -Only Now is the land where cyberpunk aesthetics, underground African polyrhythms, and spacious explorations into cinematic sound collide for intense and profound results. "Hollow" is the 2nd release from Only Now, containing 4 obsidian slabs of vivid and uncompromising sonic architecture by Kush Arora. The record explores vast landscapes of mutant Kuduro, Gqom, and industrial sounds with the techniques of physically modeled drums, undulating tempo, and resonant processing. "Hollow' is brooding and melodic, utilizing choral structures, tuned steel, synthesis, and more electronics than the live percussive bombasts of the last release. Kush has been featured in The Wire, Spin Magazine, Fact Magazine and countless outlets for his notable work in the tropical bass, dub, dancehall, and Indian music scenes, with his 10+ record discography, but this marks a new beginning for him. Lannon (Nyles Lannon) is a San Francisco native singer songwriter. He has released three solo albums on the badman recording company, most recently the album 'falling inside' in 2015. People might recognize him as the guitarist in film school, with which he graced the stage earlier this year. He also currently plays/tours in rogue wave. |
