The traditional bluesy rock vibes that come from the band's high-energy performances makes them a force to be reckoned with on the music scene and a band to watch. Rolling Stone just deemed them a new artist you need to know now and compared their stomping, hard-rock sound to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin and Black Sabbath. "If anyone's gonna cut my tongue off, it's gonna be me," declares the irreverent lead singer of DOROTHY. With ballsy guitar riffs, bold drum patterns and whiskey-soaked vocals, DOROTHY is reviving the soulful era of rock & roll that calls for drunken late night partying and more than a few bad decisions that make for good stories. Think Kurt Cobain paired with Janis Joplin. DOROTHY sounds like how youth feels. The Georgia Flood Brooks Mason, Lane Kelly -from Atlanta, GA -Groove-heavy and Genre-bending, The Georgia Flood’s music has evolved over the years. Their new album, People Like Ourselves, draws on indelible melodies, clever lyrics, and an infectious energy; weaving together an EP that hits all the right notes. The Atlanta based duo, Lane Kelly and Brooks Mason, are brothers who began playing when they were seven and nine years old respectively. Hustling birthday parties and family reunions the brothers changed sounds numerous times through their teens. Drawing on their exploration of numerous genres, their songwriting channels classic guitar driving riffs with modern pop sensibilities. And The Georgia Flood sound? Well, they’re definitely guitar-driven but beyond that… “We just love music,” says Lane. “Our influences are everything from Cream to the Black Keys to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Weezer to B.B. King and beyond.” One thing you can be sure of, these talented brothers know how to put on a high-energy show that is like no other. The Go Ahead KYNA WISE: Lead Singer, ALEX MAMELOK: Bass, Vocals, JOSH HERTZ: Guitar, Vocals, CHRIS KELLY: Drums -from San Francisco, CA Formerly known as Jesús and the Rabbis, the band has made quite an impact on the San Francisco Bay Area music scene. They were selected to play the debut Santa Cruz Music Festival in 2013 and have toured to Austin for SXSW week twice (2014/2015), which included playing Red Gorilla showcases and Ugly Whale showcase. They've opened for national touring acts like Dilly Dally from Toronto, as well as legendary artists like Lita Ford. Big things are afoot for this talented foursome that are known for combining various genres into a driving rock force with a sultry and soulful front-woman that demands your attention. |
