Brenton Carney-Lead Guitar.
Jared Hornbeek-Bass
-from Fort Worth, TX

-Based out of Fort Worth, Texas, the Unlikely Candidates are an indie rock band initially formed as an acoustic duo by childhood friends Kyle Morris and Cole Male in 2008. Eventually expanding the lineup to include guitarist Brenton Carney, bassist Jared Hornbeek, and drummer Kevin Goddard, the band was also able to expand its sound in bigger, more sweeping directions. In 2013, the band signed on with major-label Atlantic and released their debut EP, Follow My Feet. In early 2016, the Unlikely Candidates returned with a hooky new single in "You Love Could Start a War," which made a strong showing on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart. With our music were paying homage to a lineage of rock-and-roll thats larger than life, and at the same time pushing new sounds and lyrics that have a few different layers of meaning going on, says Morris, whose powerful vocals have an uncommon capacity for channeling angst, ardor, and tenderness all at once.

Cemetery Sun
Josh Doty, Elliot Polokoff, Jesse Mancillas, Austen Butler, Matt Scarpelli
-from Sacramento, CA

-Extremes define life. There’s good and bad, day and night, and dark and light. The fun happens in the middle. “Cemetery Sun is where the darkness meets the light,” exclaims Josh. “You might be in a dark place, but you see that light and gravitate towards it. The name meant something to us, because that’s exactly what we would be doing with this band. It also sounds like some shit Batman would say,” he laughs. In 2016, Cemetery Sun completed its first national tour alongside Vinyl Theater and Finish Ticket. Along the way, they’ve garnered early acclaim from Alternative Press and California’s Submerge Magazine. Now, they’re ready to make a big mark on alternative music.

“This is the kind of band we all dreamed of being in,” Josh leaves off. “It’s a mixture of so many things. It’s nostalgic in a lot of ways. There are emo and alternative vibes. At the same time, it wouldn’t be out of place in the club. It’s who we are.”
