The band’s new album marks Animal’s Flag third release and combines the work of their last two EPs from 2014 and 2015 into what Politoski considers the band’s first album with the current lineup. “Animal Flag has been my solo project since 2007, and this record (even though it’s technically a re-release) is definitive because it’s the first true full band effort,” he says. Listen to “Jealous Lover” below via Soundcloud, and allow it to set the tone for the rest of the album. Animal Flag were nominated for Best New Artist in the 2016 Boston Music Awards, and play the Middle East in Cambridge on November 2.- Paul Conroy -from Germany/San Francisco, CA -Reisender is the Moniker of Songwriter/Producer Paul Conroy. Reisender began when producer & songwriter Paul Conroy bought a neglected mandolin for 40 euros from a Flea Market in Stuttgart, Germany. The first few songs were written under bridges and on street corners of 20 different cities in Europe. From its origin as "Strassenmusik" (street music) Reisender embodies the spirit of the traveler, who embraces change and transience, especially in the face of adversity and hardship. In 2016, Reisender partnered with The Canvas Group to mix and master "New Year" and went on to perform Great American Music Hall, Bottom of the Hill, and Hotel Cafe in Hollywood in support of the album. Reisender's music features an eclectic mix of 80s-reminiscent synths and drums, grooving mandolin riffs, cement bucket drum samples, and unadulterated indie pop hooks. The result is a sound comparable to groups such as Two Door Cinema Club, Tame Impala, Washed Out, and Miike Snow. Conroy's greatest personal influences are Paul Simon, Damon Albarn, Pixies, and Paul McCartney. Reisender has also collaborated with local bay area artists such as Travis Hayes, Owl Paws, and Debbie Neigher by producing remixes of their works.. Dagmar Gemma Rose - voice/bass Miranda Lee - voice/keys/guitar Sometimes joined by: Dana T - voice/guitar Justin LeDuc - Percussion -from San Francisco based, from Fairfield, Iowa -Dagmar is an indie classical, harmony driven female duo recently relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area from their prairie homeland of Iowa. A new music project with history, Gemma Cohen (vocals, bass) and Miranda Mallard (vocals, keyboard, guitar) are Dagmar's core. They have attained sister status after having sung together for over 8 years in the trio Rock Paper Scissors, and now in Dagmar since 2014. Gemma and Miranda create original music while rocking their curly manes and singing from the depths of their souls. Harmonies continue to be a staple for this duo along with influences ranging from Phillip Glass to the Fleet Foxes. Dagmar's sound is raw, challenging, a vulnerable vocal driven exposition of Medieval harmonies and uncrumpled diaries.- |
