Modern Classic

Tristen
-from Nashville, TN
-“Some artists are interested in being complicated, it’s almost like they’re speaking another language just to the connoisseur of the art,” says Tristen. “I have no interest in that. My style is not to be exclusive. It’s to be inclusive. I’m trying to be as clear as possible. I’ve always been interested in the purest form of the idea, so that it can communicate massively.”

That theme is at the core of Tristen’s music — music that is smart but accessible, meticulously constructed but undeniably infectious. A native of South Side Chicago turned longtime Nashville resident, Tristen has released two critically acclaimed solo records — 2011’s  Charlatans at the G  arden Gate and 2013’s  CAVES — and toured extensively as a member of Jenny Lewis’ backing band.

The folk-oriented Charlatans earned her praise as  “Nashville’s best-kept secret”  ( The Boston Globe), and the more synth-pop-or iented  CAVES featured “ tales of greed, alienation and heartache, made poignant but never saccharine by their electronically enhanced surroundings” (Nashville Scene) .

Jenny O.
Jenny O, Jason Roberts, Mike Green, Brian Filosa
-from Los Angeles, CA

-New York-born singer-songwriter Jenny O. started her career in Los Angeles, California with her self-produced Home EP. Songs from this record were licensed for film and television, commercials for Subaru and Toyota, a video game called Rocksmith, and earned her tours with artists like Ben Harper, Leon Russell, and Father John Misty. Soon after, Jenny released her debut full-length album, Automechanic, and toured separately with Rodrigo Amarante and Mexican- American psychedelic musician Rodriguez across the U.S. and Europe. Jenny appeared with her band on Last Call With Carson Daly twice in 2014 and recorded the theme song for ABC's Selfie, as well as a Coca-Cola commercial for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. She spent the past year writing in Nashville and has returned to California to record her second album with producer Jonathan Wilson. Jenny is a multi- instrumentalist, performing mainly on guitar but in the studio often plays bass, piano and her own string arrangements on viola. She writes songs reminiscent of classic styles of the 60's and 70's and has been likened to songwriters like Harry Nilsson, Judee Sill, and J.J. Cale. In 2014 LA Weekly named her one of The 10 Best Young L.A. Singer-Songwriters and in 2015 she has won the Holly Prize/Song Writers Hall of Fame.
