Kllo
Chloe Kaul x Simon Lam
-from Melbourne, Australia

Kllo is a collaboration between Melbourne cousins Chloe Kaul and Simon Lam. They first emerged in 2014 with a sound beyond their years; fully formed, fusing elements of R&B, UK garage, and 2-step with modern sensibilities and wide-eyed sincerity.

The duo’s first two EPs, Cusp (2014) and Well Worn (2016), have received millions of streams, making them a fixture on festival stages across Australia (Bigsound, Splendour in the Grass) and Europe (Great Escape, Primavera Sound, among others) as well as Artists-to-Watch features, like BBC Radio 1, Spotify, Elle Magazine, and VICE – the latter saying Kllo is poised to “very politely take over the world.”

2017 brings Kllos full-length debut, Backwater, a refined,

coming-of-age account. Songs were written partially on the road and developed back in Melbourne at Lams bungalow, a haven that harbors creative spontaneity and catharsis. The album depicts inner adjustment to outer change: being far from home, treading through perpetual uncharted territory while yearning for the comforts of the familiar.

The LP format finds Kllo with more room to breathe and sync their rhythms with emotions. Kauls smoky voice emanates with assurance and leisure. Lams production invents brooding, steely undercurrents hemmed with charming crescendos. Their second release on Ghostly International – and their most realized work to date – Backwater celebrates the ephemeral and the enduring changes in emotion, the downfalls and the dissolves.

Ghost & the City
-from Oakland, CA
-Oakland’s Ghost & the City is dedicated to elevating style and experience, creating music that embodies elements of soul, trip-hop, electronica and jazz. Traveling across numerous musical genres to appeal to many tastes, Ghost & the City manages to defy conventionality, all the while maintaining homage to one principle: the almighty groove.

With the release of their 2016 “Patchwork Soul” E.P., Ghost & the City signaled a shift from club-scene fusion to a soulful, electronic sound that’s redefining West Coast jazz. Nastia Voynovskaya of East Bay Express describes the project’s trajectory. “Throughout its recent releases, the band generously shows off its virtuosic abilities: Astral keys twinkle and rollicking drums thunder; trombones, trumpets, and saxophones frolic throughout,” while Christopher Millard of Examiner noted: “The ‘Patchwork Soul’ E.P. skillfully forges a new style, always bringing the same result: infectious hooks, gorgeous voices and a heavy emotional engagement.”

Night Sea
Couleurs
Tape Ghost
-from San Francisco, CA

-Based out of San Francisco, Night Sea is a collaboration between producers Johan Ismael and David Grunzweig. They released their first EP as Night Sea in January of 2017. Equally inspired by 90s IDM, ambient, and techno, the self-titled EP set the tone for a body of work that would feel equally suitable for dancing in the club or relaxing at home. Weaving together lush soundscapes and intricate rhythms, their hypnotic productions create a meditative experience for the audience. Their most recent EP, II, was released on the 29th of September, 2017.
