Saturday December 2 2017 ![]() 8:30PM doors -- music at 9:00PM ••• 21 AND OVER $12 Dollhouse Tour The Pack (A.D.) www.thepackad.com/ Garage Rock/Psych/Punk/Pop ![]() Jail Weddings www.facebook.com/jailweddings/ Soul / Melodramatic Popular Song / Pop See Night www.facebook.com/seenightmusic/ Indie shoegaze-y pop The Pack (A.D.) Becky Black - Guitar, Vox // Maya Miller - Drums, Chorus Vox, Punch Lines -from Vancouver, BC - Destruction and melody, acid wit and bruising vocals—this is the Pack A.D. Singer/guitarist Becky Black and drummer Maya Miller have made a sound so gigantic, so fierce and raw and empowering, that it’s easy to forget there are just two people behind this brilliant, carefully constructed havoc. Shredding and pounding their way through every song, the Pack A.D. swallows you whole inside their fearless Franken-blend of heavy psych-pop/garage-rock. Their lyrics are wild nests, human and complex: darkly funny disclosures about depression; indictments of digital excess; grief-stricken fire bombs; sly crusades against stupidity. The Pack A.D. is also one of Canada’s “must-see” bands. Be it a massive stadium or the slightly seedy bar where everybody’s shoes stick to the carpet, the Pack A.D. have owned every spotlight and stolen every show they’ve ever played. Becky and Maya are relentless and riveting, playing with the kind of fuck-off freedom that makes everybody in the room vicarious rock stars, even if it’s just for the night. Jail Weddings Gabriel Hart - vocals / saxophone, Anthony Cozzi- guitar Seth Miller - bass guitar, Dave Clifford - drums Kristina Benson - keyboards / vocals Mary Animaux - vocals Julie Carpenter - strings -from Los Angeles, CA -Jail Weddings' epic second full length is quite aptly titled. Meltdown: the flailing emotional implosion often borne of a triumvirate of frayed nerves, volatile substances and excessive external pressure is clearly evidenced in the words and music herein. But, there's also a newfound sense of musical genres and histories mixing together like molten wax where the band's signature Shangri-La's, Bad Seeds, noir-hued pop merges with hazy psychedelia, bombastic rock and even essences of bizarre Eastern European folk. It's the sound of a band that's always been at the brink of self-destruction actually growing and thriving on its own chaotic impulses. JAIL WEDDINGS happen to be much more than a just a band – they are a bona-fide gang, a swaying precarious study into the extremes of human behavior, a walking, wailing “musical” happening in real time… See Night Linda, Cory, Patrick, Jeff -from San Francisco, CA -"Equal parts Pixies/Breeders pop smarts and shoegaze-y Mazzy Star haze... slow building to something much more epic, maybe like a girl pop Godspeed, if that makes any sense..with a lush sonic palette, and a propensity for epicry" - Aquarius Records "This is an edge of your seat band, and will receive my first ever New Britches Award, because after you see [see night], you'll need some new ones as your old ones will have been blown away." - iHeartSFBands.com |
