Add a healthy sprinkle of resinous dust from obscure bands like Sir Lord Baltimore, Bang, Cactus, Pentagram, Leaf Hound, and Captain Beyond. Roll mixture in over-sized papers and smoke ...the resulting aroma is SKUNK. Hard Rock from Oakland, California. Amy & The Elements -from the Bay Area, CA -Amy Obenski & The Elements has an eclectic flavor with Amy's voice guiding you smoothly through the curves from funk to reggae to roots-rock. Her hauntingly pure vocals and gripping lyrics become blissed-out, souring above the spirit of the band, bringing her songs to a new level. Amy has been performing in the Bay Area for fourteen years and has six full length albums. First and foremost, you'll notice her crystalline voice, but she also plays piano, guitar, and is an accomplished songwriter. You may have also heard her song, Carousel, on the TV Show, Grey's Anatomy. About the band: Rafael Sarria (guitar) is also the front-man of the popular San Francisco group, La Gente, known for its cumbia-latin-world flavor. Marvin Ibe came over from La Gente to join the band as well, bringing his prowess on the bass. Chris McGrew is a third generation drummer. He's played professionally since 1990, and has played on over 20 releases. Together, Amy & The Elements brings a refreshing, upbeat feel to some of Amy's previously melancholy songs. Uncle Riffkin Tom Rankin -guitar/vocals, Seth Shapiro -mandolin/lead vocals, Michael Vietmeier -lead guitar/vocals, Kevin Conness - bass -from San Francisco, CA -Uncle Riffkin is an americana-rock band from San Francisco, playing mostly original music that can range from stripped down to straight ahead rock. |
