Not so easily lumped into a sub genre, one thing that seems agreeable to all is that their sound is distinctively “Bay Area,” drawing more inspiration from their contemporary colleagues than the masters of the past, shooting off at odd angles from the generic sludge, doom and black metal sounds that are clogging the web waves these days. Space Cadaver John: guitar/vocals Roy: bass Jason: drums -from New Orleans, LA -Space Cadaver‘s name perfectly describes their music: atmospheric, primal, infinite and deadly. The New Orleans-based trio entices listeners with delicate intros that, in an instant, transform into a hurricane of guttural vocals and explosive drums and guitars. Their atmospheric sludge is a fitting soundtrack for the blatant contrasts that exist throughout the Crescent City; there is beauty beside wreckage, excess alongside destitution and good living under the shadow of evil. In a scene rife with sludge-influenced bands, Space Cadaver stands apart with their distinctly building songs that are always anchored by vocalist and guitarist John Baleine’s resonating riffs standing in stark defiance to his barked lyrics and the pummelling bass of Beto Arias and drums of Jason Meserole. Mars Mark Wood Andy Soda Matt Mars -from New Orleans, LA -Psychedelic, Occult, Stoner, Doom. Ripping out of New Orleans, Louisiana. The Bywater. Asada Messiah Rodrigo Garcia, Robb Grimes, Steve Kerwin, Sandeep Bhuta -from San Francisco, CA -Asada Messiah has churned out a tasty dose of underground metal since 2008, with the release of their first EP Grill 'Em 'All. Their style reflects their love of all things metal, ranging from classic hardcore and thrash to epic doom metal riffs. In 2012, they self-released their first full length album Cross Contamination. Which is a heavy, riff-laden homage to midnight movies. |
