The Saxophones

Alexi Erenkov
Alison Alderdice
-from Oakland, CA

-Alexi Erenkov’s duo, The Saxophones, create beautiful and personal music. Accompanied by his wife, Alison Alderdice, on percussion and samplers, they blend the darkness and melancholy of 1950s balladry with minimalistic woodwind arrangements, creating a hypnotic sound that hearkens to the past while affirming its place in the present.

The Mailboxes
Jillian Ivey + Logan Ivey
-from Chattanooga, TN

-The Mailboxes is an art-pop band from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Members Jillian and Logan Ivey are creative partners who also happen to be married to one another. Jillian plays piano, sings really loud, and writes catchy indie pop melodies. Logan plays the drums, looks cool, and is trying not to break his arms again. They like touring across the country in their van and thru-hiking in the mountains. They are releasing a new album titled Inside Outside this year through an art project that combines a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail with a national tour and custom lavender gear.

Rose Droll
-from San Francisco, CA
-Rose Droll’s debut album, Your Dog, is a record that defies all labels and mystifies people trying to compare it to anything else. It’s a captivating listen from the San Francisco-based artist, one that rewards multiple listens and a close reading of the lyric sheet. The self-recorded/produced album was made in a duplex in LA’s Highland Park and in a quiet cabin in Big Bear, mastered by Warren Hildebrand (Foxes In Fiction, Ricky Eat Acid, (Sandy) Alex G). Rose played every instrument on the record, including guitar, piano, drums, bass, cello, and glockenspiel. The songs tell a meticulous and complex story, detailing the joy and despair following the inception and drawn-out end of various romantic connections and her division from Christianity. Though written over a lengthy period of time about many different subjects, the songs all have one major thing in common: the commitment to honesty, often telling these stories exactly as they happened.
