-Versus was formed in 1990 by Richard Baluyut, Fontaine Toups, and Edward Baluyut in New York City. The band was noted for its marriage of pop songwriting and vocal harmonies to the “loud-soft” dynamics of grunge and alternative rock. They were also noted for their proficient and disciplined musicianship and for their credo of “meat, sports, and rock.”

+/- (PLUS/MINUS) is the band started by Versus members James Baluyut and Patrick Ramos in 2001. Chris Deaner joined them shortly thereafter. They still plan to conquer the world with their electronic dreamy pop meets teeth crunching rock. They hail from a city in New York state aptly named New York.

+/- {Plus/Minus} is an American "indie-tronic" band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures..

-from SF Bay Area, CA

-We’re a band based in the San Francisco Bay Area and we released our debut record in 2018 titled, Happy Now. Gang of Four released a record later that year also titled Happy Now, and even though I wouldn’t call them an influence, we thought that was pretty cool. Our record didn’t capture the world’s imagination or anything, but it resonated with many who heard it.

Jangle Pop Hub called it an “outstanding album” (seriously) and said “The Wild Kindness get it very right…all of the time.”

Culture website Elsewhere mentioned our “swelling melodies and arrangements” and “the sheer enjoyment this offers when played loud.”

Austin Town Hall said the record “seems like an amalgam of everyone’s favorite bits of indie rock over the last 30 years” (that’s good I think) and that we’re “a new band to adore for the foreseeable future.”

So now we’re making a new record, to be released later in 2019. Same deal as last time: recorded at Tiny Telephone in Oakland; engineered by Beau Sorenson (obligatory mention of Bob Mould and Death Cab for Cutie credits go here); additional recording by James Levis; keys by Doug Saenz. The songs are a little punchier, melodies a little sharper. Who knows, maybe more discoverers of new music, who are able to find us and are willing to take the time to listen, will like this one too.
