2019 7:30PM doors -- music at 8:00PM ••• 21 AND OVER $20 Kristin Hersh Electric Trio www.kristinhersh.com/ intelligent indie rock Fred Abong (from the Throwing Muses) fredabong.bandcamp.com/ gritty post-punk Dizzy Twin www.dizzytwin.com/ rollicking modern rock ambient guitarcabaret Kristin Hersh Electric Trio -from Providence, RI -Influential songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Kristin Hersh, leader of the indie rock band, Throwing Muses and the noise rock power trio, 50 Foot Wave, is on the road with her highly acclaimed Fire Records release, “Possible Dust Clouds.” The touring trio is a hard hitting super group: Fred Abong, bass player from Throwing Muses (who opens solo, promoting his new ep, “Pulsing”) and Rob Ahlers, drummer of 50 Foot Wave. These electric trio shows are loud, tight and intense, featuring material from across Kristin’s thirty year career. Fred Abong (from the Throwing Muses) -from Newport, RI -FRED ABONG is a singer/songwriter and one time bass player for the influential art-punk band Throwing Muses and the Grammy nominated alt-rock band Belly. Prior to that, Fred was active as a drummer and bass player in numerous bands centered on the Newport RI hardcore punk scene. In addition to playing music, Fred earned his Ph.D in Humanities in 2016. Dizzy Twin -from San Francisco, CA -Dizzy Twin began as a super-secret studio project created in San Francisco by UK transplant Paul Simmans (Gone to Ground) and freak-about-town Mia d’Bruzzi (Frightwig, Mudwimin, Gone to Ground, Mama Mia d’Bruzzi). It is now a full-blown live act featuring Roger Rocha (4 Non Blondes, The Goldenhearts) on guitar, Tim Perdue (Velvetta, Enrique) on bass, Mike McKevitt on lap steel guitar, and Michael Tornatore on drums, along with Paul on piano and guitar and Mia on vocals. Dizzy Twin explores a netherworld of weird, witchy vibes. To date, they’ve put out two albums: Kaleidoscope (2016) and Empire (2018), the latter of which was mastered at Abbey Road Studios. Musically beautiful and lyrically powerful, Dizzy Twin is in a genre all it’s own- an adventurous and dynamic feminist statement reaching into both the future and the past. |
