Noah Rosen -from San Francisco, CA -Since the release of his first EP and album in 2019, Noah Rosen has evolved from a jazz contemporary to a genre-bending artist whose primary focus is to bring the saxophone to audiences old and new. Despite some success in the Lo-Fi genre, the 30-year old musician never settles on one style of music. His goal instead is to elevate his haunting sound and lure listeners into a surreal dream. The backdrop of such dreams, as displayed on his 2021 album Narrative Ellipses, can be a variety of styles. Born and raised in San Francisco, the saxophonist was heavily influenced by jazz icons John Coltrane and Stan Getz, Latin rock legend Carlos Santana, the Oakland band Tower of Power, and hip hop legends from 2Pac to Eminem, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z and Kanye West, to name several. After graduating from School of the Arts High School in 2009, Noah took his saxophone to UCLA and played in every band he could while earning a humanities degree. Upon graduating in 2013, he returned to the Bay Area and the following year joined a young Latin rock band called Soltrón, with whom he performed for over two years. A brief solo break was followed by his 2016 initiation into Sweet Plot, the dynamic funk and soul band with whom he remains to this day. Right before the Covid pandemic, he formed his own collective for two successful shows at the Milk Bar and Amnesia in San Francisco. Noah used the time during quarantine to work harder than ever on his skills, and now he is ready to show the people something they’ve never heard before. TBA - - TBA - - |
