Yet they all found themselves, and each other, in the parking lot of Light Rail Studios. CUT. is the band’s debut, storytelling scored by the blending of these experiences, musical backgrounds and a shared joy of creating music to connect them, in some way, with all the normal people in the world. The Genie -from San Francisco, CA -The Genie is an artist, musician, and performer from San Francisco, California. A full-time live performer for the past 20 years he is in a league of his own, becoming known for his avant-garde guitar playing and live-looping innovations. He has blessed countless stages in the past two decades and has shared the stage with such notable artists such as DJ Qbert, Shabazz Palaces, Talvin Singh, Beardy Man, DJ Logic, KJ Sawka, and Kamasi Washington. His recent releases include collaborations with Killah Priest (Wu Tang Clan), Zumbi (Zion I), M-1 (Dead Prez), Myka Nyne (Freestyle Fellowship), and Deuce Eclipse (Bang Data). All in all, The Genie is one of the most innovative guitarists and ground-breaking performing artists of this era who is leaving and indelible mark in the world of music and art. In recent years he has also gained notoriety for creating mirrored-Mylar installations including his “Crystal Mirror Space” studio.
