Fleur bleu·e
-from Paris, FR
-Creative chemistry might be impossible to define, but whatever it is, FLEUR BLEU·E have it in abundance. The Paris-based duo of Delphine Lucy Lam
and Vlad Swann have presided over an assured debut album in Unrequited Love (Pan European Recordings, 2023), full of delicate songs of yearning.

Franco-Mauritian Delphine grew up listening to Françoise Hardy and the Beatles in the industrial north of France, while Vlad - who was born in Bulgaria
but whose family switched to Toulouse, then Bordeaux, and then eventually Versailles - is an avowed Smiths head. They approach songs from opposite
ends of a spectrum, meeting in the middle and finding common ground in a gorgeously melancholic hinterland of their own. They list Broadcast, Mazzy
Star and Beach House among their inspirations.

The pair met at a gig in Paris in 2018, though they were still some distance away from making music together. Vlad was living in California at the time
and had just returned to the French capital for a visit. Their meeting was brief but profound, and when Delphine had what she describes as “deep burnout”
from her work, she went to visit her new friend in America. They began writing together, her with a cello and him with a guitar. It felt like the most natural
thing in the world. ‘Waterfall Spring’, the first song on Unrequited Love, happens to be the first song they ever wrote together too, a beautifully descriptive
paean to the healing mise-en-scene of California. L.A. itself enriched Delphine unexpectedly during a trying period.

These achingly beautiful eleven songs might be bound together conceptually in the titular Unrequited Love, but be assured that you’re going to fall hard
for Fleur bleu·e. Contrary to the title, it is a meeting of minds and of souls, a collision of invisible substances that together create a unique world of wistful,
sonic beauty.
