MEMORIALS
-from Canterbury, UK
-MEMORIALS are an experimental pop band creating cosmic journeys into psych rock, far-out folk and wild analogue electronics, fired by the spirit of free jazz, drawing comparisons to Broadcast, Portishead and The Velvet Underground. The duo of Verity Susman (Electrelane) and Matthew Simms (Wire, Better Corners, It Hugs Back, Uuuu, Fitted) formed in 2022 just before the release of their film score work, with two soundtrack albums released on the same day in 2023 - Music For Film: Tramps! and Music For Film: Women Against The Bomb. Their music is incredibly varied yet retains its own distinctive identity and is produced entirely by the two in their own studio, utilising analogue recording techniques, reel-to-reel tape machines and vintage effects. Continued offers to perform live around the world have allowed the band to discover a new creative focus outside of working to film and 2024 has seen them sign to Fire Records to release their much anticipated debut album, Memorial Waterslides.

Maria BC
-from Oakland, CA
-"Maria BC is a classically trained vocalist, a dexterous guitarist, and a songwriter with an innate gift for vast, stately melodies, but the defining strength of their music is the mood: an overarching melancholy that shadows everything like heavy storm clouds." —Pitchfork

Ohio-born, Oakland, CA-based artist Maria BC (they/them) has slowly opened up their process over the years, moving from the one-room recording process of 2021 EP Devil’s Rain—careful not to disturb their roommates or neighbors—to the untreated apartment wanderings of Hyaline (2022, Father/Daughter) to the home of a family friend featuring an out-of-tune baby Steinway piano where they recorded their Sacred Bones debut, Spike Field.

Hyaline, was a 2022 ambient-folk highlight. It found the singer-songwriter crafting haunting tracks that played like they were beamed from the heart of some mystical, cobwebbed attic. Spike Field pushed their gauzy formula into increasingly manicured terrain, capturing the sound of a young artist who has quickly honed a singular voice. Strings, plucked guitar and buzzing swells accompany their classically-trained mezzo-soprano voice soaking their arrangements in a denser and more kaleidoscopic way than any of their previous work. Maria BC describes it as “filling out the sonic space,” as Spike Field builds on the intimacy of Hyaline through liberating instrumental embellishments.

Vitamin Girl
-from Oakland, CA
-Vitamin Girl is an Oakland band that plays music to boogie down to. Dinky keys, airy vocals, and rock musicians that try to sound jazzy. Inspired by bands like Stereolab, Broadcast, and CAN.

Drummer Moss, guitarist Finn, and bassist Jonah have been seen playing music together around Oakland for years as The Sleeps and Cardio Star, and have brought in funky keys from Kev and pretty vocals from Talia to make something fresh.
