Like a raven dancing through the Northern Californian wind, FIGURE EIGHT has been an elusive but bold presence since their origin in 2023. Whether playing in a dimly lit club in Oakland or echoing from a cave on the jagged coast of San Francisco, the band has built a reputation for creating an intense and immersive world through effect-laden guitars, frenzied drums, and wistful vocals. Their live performance is constantly bending genres and expectations– sometimes playing completely improvisationally— and always with a candle burning. until the sun swallows the earth / hummingbird ushers in a new era for the band, inviting their experimental influences to the foreground. Thematically, this release embraces a solemn solidarity with the pain and darkness of the world, while carrying an ethos of anarchistic spirituality, tender loving kindness, and a path towards healing.
