WAAX

Starzdust
-from San Francisco, CA
-San Francisco’s Starzdust emerged onto the local grunge and DIY rock scene in late 2023. The band has carved out a sound that’s both gritty and melodic merging elements of punk, grunge, and rock with hard hitting and soft vocals. Starzdust’s rise reflects the energy of a new wave of Bay Area rock: unapologetic, female-driven, and fiercely independent. Beyond fronting the band, Natalia is also the founder of Rose Blood Festival, a femme-fronted showcase that sold out its debut event and spotlighted some of the most exciting new voices in alternative music. With growing recognition from platforms like Bandcamp, Starzdust is currently working on their debut EP and going on their first West Coast tour.

Cut-Rate Druggist
-from Oakland, CA
-Cut-Rate Druggist, born from cosmic alignment, is an Oakland-based dynamic duo. With 15 years of camaraderie and a journey through bands like Fabulous Disaster and Stoli and the Beers, Squeaky and hal9000 Beers created a rock and roll powerhouse.

Crafting a unique sonic experience, Cut-Rate Druggist blends dual vocals, heavy drums, and bass guitar into a thunderous wall of sound. The explosive 2019 EP under Heart On Records marked their arrival, setting the stage for supporting acts like Team Dresch, Betty Blowtorch and Margaritas Podridas.

In 2022, the band unleashed "Run Rabbit Run" and a soul-stirring take on the Ramones' "Pet Sematary," leaving an indelible mark on Berkeley's KALX Live! radio and Bridge City Fest 3.

Undeterred by the pandemic, 2023 became a year of audacious creativity and global expansion. Cut-Rate Druggist toured Japan, capturing raw energy for a forthcoming live album. The U.S. West Coast succumbed to their musical conquest, highlighted by a stellar M.I.G. Fest performance.

In August 2023, "Have You Seen Her?" released through Australia's Fantastic Mess Records, earning radio play across the U.S., U.K., and Australia. Their unyielding momentum continued with a split 7” featuring their take on Wipers' "Tragedy" and a fall tour across Australia supporting Glycereens.

Today: Cut-Rate Druggist’s “Blistering” is a loud, fast, and unvarnished full-length that consists of 10 songs that could be categorized as punky grunge or grungy punk. You decide for yourself. This fuzzy bass and hard hitting drum filled album contains all the elements that fills one with rage, all while making you want to call your childhood best friend to reminisce.

Engineered by some of the best rockers on the West Coast (Josh Garcia, Craig Billmeier, Bart Thurber & Jack Endino), this album contains straight ahead punk and roll songs about loss, wrong doing and redemption, with a little violin thrown in for good measure.

With years of releasing EPs and singles while touring, it may be hard to believe that they were able to settle down long enough to record a full-length album, but the time has finally come. ‘Blistering’ moves quickly, holds together, and ends without commentary.
