Historically a live experience, Sleepbomb has performed their scores across the West coast of the US since 2003 and now has set their sights on expanding to the East coast and the world. Musically, Sleepbomb ranges from heavy doom riffs to dreamy shoegaze, dark soundscapes punctuated with shimmering guitar and ethereal vocals. Originally stylistically close to a chaotic version of Throbbing Gristle vs Black Sabbath, Sleepbomb has been exploring experimental sounds and forms, guided by the band’s love of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Coil, Neurosis, Sunn 0))), Ulver and Swans, among others. Settling on a drone influenced style of doom metal as the overarching theme while exploring other genres as appropriate for each film’s particular style, Sleepbomb’s goal is to re-contextualize the experience of these well known films. They succeed in this. Sleepbomb joined Bill Gould’s koolarrow records and Belgium’s Consouling Sounds in 2023 for the release of their score for the classic 1920 German Expressionist film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. They were overjoyed to repeat this collaboration for the January 2025 release of The Sleeping Dead: excerpts from an alternate score for George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, and are prepping the release of their Conan the Barbarian score for June 2026 on koolarrow records. Founded in 2003 by Charles Hernandez and Mark Jones, Sleepbomb began as an casual ensemble project performing improvised industrial/experimental scores to German Expressionist films like Caligari and Metropolis. Performing in local beer gardens and art galleries, the duo were joined by Chris Bishop on bass, Rob Johnson on drums, Tim Gotch on synths and James Presley on the electric saw. Along with a rotating cast of background vocalists, Sleepbomb performed several times a year until mid-2013. After a short hiatus, the band retrenched and refocused in 2015, dropping much of the improvisational/casual nature that previously defined the project’s scores for pre-arranged music (and sadly losing founding member Mark Jones to adult responsibilities in the process.) Stylistically, the band moved towards a heavier sound, while still retaining much of their experimental/psychedelic roots. Formal scores were written and performed live to sold out audiences around the Bay area, including signature scores for Conan the Barbarian (with Arnold Schwarzenegger) and German Expressionist classics Metropolis and Nosferatu. Great momentum was in place for 2020, but nature interfered. Post-pandemic, Sleepbomb returned in a limited fashion in 2021 and expanded to a full slate in 2022. After a lineup shakeup, 2022 solidified as a four piece with the addition of Claire Hamard and premiered brand new scores for The Cabinet of Dr Caligari and Night of the Living Dead. In 2023, Sleepbomb joined the koolarrow records roster and released The Cabinet of Dr Caligari and Night of the Living Dead in conjunction with Belgium’s Consouling Sounds. 2026 sees the band returning to the core trio of Charlie, Rob and Tim with some exciting upcoming developments to be announced in early spring! Charles Hernandez: Guitar, Vocals Robert Johnson: Drums, Percussion Tim Gotch: Bass, Synths, Vocals, Video Hazzard's Cure -from an Francisco, CA -San Francisco, California, based Hazzard's Cure is a four piece heavy metal band. Not so easily lumped into a sub genre, one thing that seems agreeable to all is that their sound is distinctively “Bay Area,” drawing more inspiration from their contemporary colleagues than the masters of the past, shooting off at odd angles from the generic sludge, doom and black metal sounds that are clogging the web waves these days. Clint (drums), Chris (guitar) and Leo (guitar) began developing new material for their post Orb Of Confusion project in late Spring of 2009, eventually recruiting Shane (Walken) on bass. They played their first show (as Waylin Jenocide) on August 7 of that year. They played their first show as Hazzard’s Cure on February 7th, 2010, and released a three song demo just in time for their first tour, to the Pacific Northwest in April 2010. Hazzard’s Cure’s first, self titled, full length album was released in October 2011 on Lummox Records, to critical acclaim, some even going so far as to say it was ”An absolutely phenomenal debut work from a band who know their stuff” (Death Metal Baboon) and “…one of the best albums of the year.” (Hellcrust). With massive production by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios, and iconic and grotesque artwork by Lukas Krieg, the album became an underground favorite in the Bay Area and beyond. To support the album, the band toured up and down the West Coast extensively, and played seemingly every metal venue in the Bay Area that would have them, opening for a diverse array of touring acts from around the country and world. A New three song EP entitled "The Ugly" was released on CD and cassette in late 2014; the 12" vinyl followed shortly behind in early 2015. “The Ugly” represented an intensification of their previous sound, and featured guest vocals from Laurie-Sue Shanaman (of the late, great Ludicra) on the final track, furthering the band’s commitment to perpetuate the recent history of the Bay Area metal sound. Since their inception, Hazzard’s Cure has undertaken seven West Coast tours, and played 129 shows with such bands as Eyehategod, Graves At Sea, Unasane, Mutilation Rites, Saviours, and Bell Witch, among others. A split seven inch single with Walken was released in September 2016. More touring (of course) and the release of a second full length album "Smoke Iron Plunder," are planned for late 2016.
