Deerhoof
-from San Francisco, CA
-Legendary experimental rock band Deerhoof brings their explosive blend of noise, punk energy, avant-pop melodies and sonic experimentation back to their San Francisco birthplace.

Deerhoof literally started their band in an apartment at the corner of 19th and Arkansas. They attended shows around the corner at BOTTOM OF THE HILL too many times to count, and played so many of their most important shows at this legendary venue. There was simply no way Deerhoof was going to not return for a couple shows before B.O.T.H.’s closing.

Since those days Deerhoof have gone on to influence generations of experimental and indie musicians, while continuing to reinvent themselves with each release. They’ve created a catalogue spanning more than 20 acclaimed albums ranging from surrealistic pop to urgent art-punk. With the band pulling their music from Spotify a year ago, this is the moment to experience Deerhoof the way it’s meant to be - live, loud, and direct.

Fronted by the unmistakeable voice and presence of Satomi Matsuzaki, Deerhoof’s music moves between chaos and precision, where jagged hard-rock riffs collide with playful melodies and tightly wound rhythms erupt into exhilarating bursts of sound. Their live shows are loud, chaotic, playful, and impossibly tight. Expect distorted twin guitars, explosive drumming, sudden tempo changes, and the kind of energy that turns a room upside down.

Greyhound
-from Oakland, CA
-Is it hard for anyone else out there to relax? With the doomy vibes weighing heavy in all the same ways (climate in crisis, bloated military spending, killer cops, bigotry and violence), it takes a lot to get me to take a deep breath of relief. But that’s exactly what I got out of this stunning full-length of crisp, ripping hardcore from this Oakland group. There’s a distinct Bay Area grit to these eleven cuts, captured perfectly in the band’s rehearsal space and mixed/mastered/released by themselves. It hits hard as nails—there’s heft in the low end and clarity in the guitars, something other home recorders could take some notes on. On top of that, the songs bleed with passion and cut through the crowded HC landscape with ingenious guitar work that consistently caught me off guard. On top of all that, all the band’s proceeds (including T-shirt sales) go toward G.L.I.T.S., so while the world may be a miserable place, GREYHOUND is out there doing the good work. Real deal.
