Known for her dynamic fusion of hip-hop and spoken word, Ruby has toured throughout the United States, Canada and the Philippines, including the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the Getty Center, The Ford, and Araneta Coliseum. With longtime collaborator LASI, she is also the co-founder of Bolo Music Group, an independent creative company that produces and amplifies Filipino-American music and content. In May 2025, Ruby was named the winner of NPR’s 2025 Tiny Desk Contest, further cementing her as one of the most compelling independent voices in contemporary music. Her work and artistry have been featured by NPR, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Paper, Vogue Philippines, Billboard Philippines, XXL, T Magazine, The Today Show, and the San Francisco Chronicle, among others. Ruby and her band The Balikbayans performed on a sold out 10-city tour with NPR in 2025. Her music can additionally be heard across films, television, museum exhibits, and other multimedia projects, reflecting an artistry that extends well beyond the stage. Her release, “Bakunawa,” is the first single from her forthcoming sophomore album, and "Salbahe Ako," a collaboration with Carl Angelo, is featured on the newly released DreamWorks animated film, Forgotten Island. Carl Angelo -from Los Angeles, CA -Carl Angelo is a Fil-Am hip-hop artist from Los Angeles, CA, currently based in Seattle, WA with the goal of becoming the greatest Filipino rapper of all time. Amihan -from San Francisco, CA -Amihan is a queer Pinay cultural worker; a self-taught musician and poet born and bred in the Excelsior. She was named after the peasant women's organization in the Philippines and raised through community activism in San Francisco. Rooted in her people’s struggle for land & liberation, her music fuses hip-hop & R&B flows with chants of revolution. Amihan is also the guitarist and vocalist of the band Diwa, who will accompany her for this concert. |
