Various tracks on compilations came first, leading to the Kill Rock Stars single "These Monsters Are Real" and then the 1994 LP Calculated, after which the Chainsaw label seven-inch "Direction" appeared and the band split, though Tucker would later achieve widespread recognition as the leader of Sleater-Kinney. For Horses -from Eugene, OR -For Horses (formerly known as GrrlBand) is a five piece rock outfit born in Eugene, Oregon now living and gigging in the San Francisco Bay Area. The group pairs expansive melodies with cutting lyrics, inspired by the precedent of The Breeders, Mannequin Pussy, and Veruca Salt. For Horses is passionate about female, queer, and BIPOC empowerment under the male-dominated rock umbrella. Claudia Santino (vocals), Codi Farmer (bass), LJ Jones (drums), Camy Corcoran (lead guitar), and Kayla Krueger (rhythm guitar) welcome all rockers to feel comfortable and engross themselves in the music. They also scream a lot, and want you to join in! Cut-Rate Druggist -from Oakland, CA -Cut-Rate Druggist is a two-piece band from Oakland, CA, known for a heavy, controlled sound that lands bigger than its lineup suggests. Built on locked-in drums and bass, their music balances volume with intention, confrontational without anger and driven by pressure and release rather than speed. Since 2019, they’ve played side by side at the front edge of the stage, proving that with the right chemistry, less can be more. After a self-titled EP on Heart On Records and a run of singles, they toured across four continents, including Japan, Australia, Europe, and the U.S., earning a reputation for commanding live shows where volume and physical presence are pushed to their limits. Their work avoids novelty and nostalgia, focusing instead on clarity, control, and impact. Formed by Squeaky and hal9000 Beers after years in bands including Fabulous Disaster, Nobodys, and Year Of The Fist, the project was a deliberate challenge: what can two people really do? Their full-length album Blistering arrives via DCxPC Records in April 2026, followed by national and international tours. It is not reinvention, but refinement: loud, deliberate, and unmistakably their own. |
