Tennis
Patrick Riley, Alaina Moore, and James Barone.
-From Denver, Colorado.
-Tennis are an indie pop trio comprised of husband and wife Patrick Riley (guiar, keyboards, production) and Alaina Moore (vocals, keyboard) and James Barone (drums). Riley and Moore met while students in Colorado, and after graduating college they bought a sailboat and spent seven months sailing along the Eastern Seaboard. Post-adventure, they moved back to Colorado, and after getting settled began recording songs that had a modern lo-fi feel but a sweet 50's pop heart. The songs were inspired by their trip and the discussions they would havea bout music while on board their boat (the Swift Ranger). The duo's first single, "South Carolina," was released in summer of 2010 on Fire Talk Records, to be quickly followed by their second single, "Baltimore," for the Underwater Peoples label. The rest of the year was spent playing shows and recording their first album. While on tour to support this album, Cape Dory, the band began coming up with ideas for the second. This project, Young & Old, was written and recorded in a relatively short three-month span.

Tennis takes everything you love about indie pop and puts it into one genuinely fun, catchy package. Alaina Moore's vocals switch flawlessly from soulful to poppy, and paired with background vocals that echo with the spirit of funk and soul, make for a powerful combo. Add the masterful drumming of James Barone and the guitar/piano skills of Patrick Riley, and you have a full, lush sound that is both retro and modern.
